Trump envoy Witkoff visits IDF base in northern Gaza as peace deal advances, thousands return home

White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff was photographed Saturday visiting an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in the northern Gaza Strip as the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas appeared to be holding for a second day.
The image was obtained exclusively by Fox News. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) leader Adm. Brad Cooper accompanied Witkoff during the visit to the facility.
Thousands of Palestinians were seen returning to their homes in the Gaza Strip Saturday. One image showed a massive column of people moving north along the territory’s coastline, by vehicle and on foot.
«It is an indescribable feeling; praise be to God,» resident Nabila Basal told Reuters. «We are very, very happy that the war has stopped, and the suffering has ended.»

The scenes are emerging after the IDF said in an X post on Friday that its ceasefire agreement is now in effect.
«The Ceasefire Agreement Came Into Effect at 12:00,» the post noted. «Since 12:00, IDF troops began positioning themselves along the updated deployment lines in preparation for the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages. IDF troops in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to remove any immediate threat.»
IDF spokesman for Arab media, Avichay Adraee, warned, «In accordance with the agreement, IDF troops will continue to be present in various areas of the Gaza Strip. You must avoid approaching IDF troops. Approaching them endangers your life.»

The 72-hour countdown for Hamas to release its remaining hostages began on Friday, according to Reuters. Twenty of the hostages are believed to be alive, while another twenty-eight are deceased.
«We are very excited, waiting for our son and for all the 48 hostages,» Hagai Angrest, whose son, Matan, is believed to still be alive, told Reuters. «We are waiting for the phone call.»

Palestinian health authorities said 100 bodies have been recovered across the Gaza Strip following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, Reuters reported.
One Gaza City resident, 40-year-old Ismail Zayda, said to the news agency that his home is still standing despite the war.

«Thank God my house is still standing,» he reportedly said. «But the place is destroyed, my neighbors’ houses are destroyed, entire districts have gone.»
In Khan Younis, resident Ahmed al-Brim told Reuters that, «We went to our area. It was exterminated. We don’t know where we will go after that.»

The Department of Homeland Security on Monday blasted a federal judge’s order requiring it to immediately improve conditions at its ICE processing facility in Baltimore — including reducing the number of detainees held there at one time, and improving access to food, hygiene, and medical care — telling Fox News Digital that the court’s determination of any «subprime» conditions or overcrowding are «false.»
«Illegal aliens in custody are provided food, water, blankets, and hygiene products,» a spokesperson for DHS said Monday, alleging that ICE «has higher detention standards than most U.S. prisons that hold actual U.S. citizens,» including access to «comprehensive» medical care.
The characterization comes hours after a federal judge in Maryland issued a preliminary injunction Monday ordering ICE to either drastically improve conditions at its Baltimore processing center or find a new facility to «humanely» and legally hold the migrants before transferring them to a longer-term detention center.

U.S. District Judge Julie Rubin, a Biden appointee, sided with plaintiffs Monday in ruling that Baltimore’s holding center conditions are «unhygienic, unsanitary,» and ultimately, unconstitutional.
Rubin used a 67-page preliminary injunction to carefully tick through a long list of egregious conditions alleged by lawyers for plaintiffs over the last 10 months, including allegations of squalid, unsanitary holding, severe overcrowding, and a lack of medical screening, access to medical care, and necessary treatment — which the judge noted could lead to liability issues, or «in the worst-case scenario, fatalities.»
«The debated issue here is not defendants’ legitimate governmental interest; it is that defendants apparently dispense with even rudimentary decent, humane treatment of civil detainees, and so too their constitutional rights as a result,» Rubin said in the preliminary injunction, which applies to all current and future detainees at the holding facility operated by Baltimore’s ICE Field Office.
She sided with plaintiffs in ruling that the conditions in Baltimore are «unlawfully punitive» and reflect a «deliberate indifference to the health, safety, and medical needs» on behalf of the government, in violation of the Fifth Amendment and due process protections granted under the U.S. Constitution.
Rubin also rejected the notion that ICE detainees and illegal immigrants are not entitled to due process, citing the Supreme Court precedent under Zadvydas v. Davis, which holds that such protections apply to «all ‘persons’» within the U.S. «including [noncitizens], whether their presence here is lawful, unlawful, temporary, or permanent.»
A DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital that migrants detained at the ICE holding center in Baltimore are granted «comprehensive» health care, including «medical, dental, and mental health services as available, and access to medical appointments and 24-hour emergency care,» and rejected claims made by plaintiffs and the judge.
«This is the best healthcare tha[t] many aliens have received in their entire lives,» the spokesperson added.
Rubin, in the court order, does not appear to back that contention.

«This is not a case of a prisoner lacking access to a clean toilet for a period of days, nor is it a case where a pretrial detainee cannot shower and is not provided with hygiene items …» Rubin said in the preliminary injunction, which comes after one year of status hearings, amended complaints, and declarations provided to the court from Trump administration officials and others.
«Rather, the conditions here are compounded: civilly detained people are stuffed into unclean cells by the dozens, without basic hygiene essentials, while exposed to a virtually open unclean toilet (and those detained making use of same),» Rubin said.
«These conditions woefully fail to comport with ‘contemporary standards of decency,» she continued.
DHS also rejected claims of inadequate medical care, including complaints from plaintiffs’ lawyers and cited by the court in which individuals with serious medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV, leukemia, and broken bones were denied medications or medical attention.
Government records cited by the judge show that between February and September 2025, just eight out of 3,250 detainees held at the Baltimore ICE facility had been transported to a hospital for medical needs.
Rubin is not the first federal judge to order U.S. immigration officials to immediately improve conditions at ICE processing centers or «holding» centers across the country during Trump’s second presidential term.

In August, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan issued an emergency order requiring ICE to swiftly address allegations of filthy, overcrowded cells and prolonged stays at an ICE processing facility in New York City. The following month, he slapped ICE with a more lasting preliminary injunction seeking to codify those changes.
And in Minnesota, a federal judge last month issued a temporary restraining order requiring ICE to grant detainees at its Whipple Federal Building holding center access to counsel, attorney-client visits, and a 72-hour notice period before transferring detainees out of the state.
The administration has not yet indicated whether it will appeal the judge’s ruling. Still, DHS officials sharply rejected the allegations of improper treatment, telling Fox News Digital that being in detention «is a choice.»

«We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App,» they said, noting that the U.S. «is offering illegal aliens $2,600 and a free flight to self-deport,» as former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem noted during congressional testimony last week.
«If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return,» they added.

Un testigo iraní aportó nuevas pruebas sobre la participación de Irán en el atentado a la mutual judía AMIA.
Según supo TN en exclusiva, en diciembre pasado la Unidad Fiscal de Investigación UFI-AMIA viajó a Francia y tomó declaración a cuatro iraníes disidentes que residen en ese país y que ya habían declarado ante el juez Juan José Galeano en 1998.

Ahora, ampliaron su testimonio y aportaron pruebas sobre la responsabilidad de Irán en el atentado perpetrado el 18 de julio de 1994 y que causó 85 muertos y decenas de heridos.
Qué dijeron los testigos iraníes
El testimonio más relevante, al que tuvo acceso TN, es el del disidente Hadi Roshan Ravani.
En su declaración apuntó como responsable de la organización del atentado a Alí Asghar Hejazi. Según dijo, está a cargo del área de inteligencia del gobierno teocrático iraní y era la “mano derecha” del ayatollah Ali Jamenei, el líder supremo asesinado el 28 de febrero en el inicio de la actual guerra en Medio Oriente.

Según declaró, Hejazi viajó a la Argentina un año antes del atentado para encargarse de todos los preparativos. Entró al país el 26 de marzo de 1993 caracterizado como “obispo”.
“Ali Asghar Hejazi era la máxima autoridad responsable del ataque contra la AMIA. Comenzó en Irán supervisando los preparativos del atentado y en 1993 viajó a Argentina para asegurarse de la viabilidad de la operación y de que los agentes que iban a actuar eran fiables. No se trataba de una simple supervisión, se le rendían cuentas y si viajó a Argentina fue para asegurarse de la veracidad de la información que había recibido y del éxito de la operación”, indicó Ravani.
En su testimonio, dijo que que el ataque fue organizado por el grupo islámico libanés Hezbollah con el apoyo y financiamiento de Irán. Como prueba aportó el recorte del diario en farsi Iran Zamin publicado un mes después del atentado a la AMIA.

Allí se expone la responsabilidad iraní en el ataque, según declaró.
El jueves pasado se pidió el procesamiento de los iraníes involucrados.

En su testimonio, Hadi Roshan Ravani aportó detalles sobre la organización del atentado.
“Resido legalmente en Francia desde 1982. Soy miembro del Consejo Nacional de la Resistencia iraní. Tras el atentado contra la AMIA en 1994, me enteré por simpatizantes en Irán dónde se había decidido esta operación y quiénes eran los responsables”, indicó.

Además, señaló: “En 1998 testifiqué ante el juez (Galeano). Ahora me gustaría completar mi declaración de 1998. He investigado y he descubierto nueva información sobre las personas implicadas y sus actividades dentro del régimen”.
“Una operación terrorista la determina el comité Vijeh, presidido por Ali Asghar Hejazi. Es la persona más importante del régimen después de Jamenei. Habla directamente con Jamenei y con su hijo Mojtaba. Y también es el principal responsable de la toma de decisiones”, añadió.
En su testimonio, dijo que “en el comité Vijeh se elige la acción terrorista, que luego pasa al consejo de seguridad nacional para su aprobación, y con el aval del líder supremo se ejecuta”.
“Irán comenzó a preparar el atentado en 1983, cuando enviaron a Mohsen Rabbani (ex agregado cultural de la embajada iraní en Buenos Aires) para este propósito. Aplicaron en Argentina el mismo modelo que se había empleado con Hezbollah en el Líbano: identificar a musulmanes locales para atraerlos a las mezquitas donde Rabbani ejercía como imán. Entre estos jóvenes reclutados, Rabbani elegía a aquellos con probabilidades de participar”, contó.
Según declaró, “Rabbani y Taha Abde Khodaei, consejero cultural de la embajada de Irán en Argentina desde 1990, enviaron informes a Irán con las vulnerabilidades de la comunidad judía en el país. Con esos informes, el comité Vihej decidió seguir adelante con los preparativos del atentado”.
“Hejazi es la máxima autoridad responsable del ataque contra la AMIA. Comenzó en Irán supervisando los preparativos del atentado y en 1993 viajó a la Argentina para asegurarse de la viabilidad de la operación, supervisada directamente por Jamenei”, señaló.
Qué dice el diario en farsi sobre el atentado a la AMIA
El diario Iran Zamin reveló “nuevos documentos sobre los planes y actividades del régimen en Argentina”, en un artículo publicado un mes después del ataque.

Además, aseguró: “Entre los líderes del régimen, Argentina es conocida como el ´Segundo Israel´ debido a su numerosa población judía. Por otro lado, un gran número de árabes del Líbano también han emigrado a este país. Por esta razón, el régimen ha preparado extensos programas para promover el fundamentalismo entre los musulmanes de Argentina”, agregó.
Señalo además que “en el documento número 379 del Ministerio de Cultura y Orientación Islámica del régimen, se evalúa la situación en Argentina y se informa que: ´La cifra aproximada de árabes que han emigrado a Argentina desde el Medio Oriente es de unas 400.000 personas, de las cuales la mayoría son musulmanes, conformando una cifra de unos 250.000 individuos».
“Los musulmanes de Argentina están formados en su mayoría por árabes que provienen de las regiones del Levante, es decir, Líbano, Siria y Jordania, así como de otros países árabes”, prosiguió.

“Los jóvenes alauitas, al alcanzar la madurez intelectual hacia el nuevo movimiento islámico en el mundo, se sienten especialmente atraídos por la Revolución Islámica. Estos jóvenes declaran su retorno a sí mismos y su repulsión por la cultura argentina, y expresan sus favores, afectos y entusiasmo hacia la Revolución Islámica, de lo cual no hay duda…”, indicó.
También afirmó: “Ellos son alauitas y afirman ser chiitas jafaríes y casi todos han huido de las embajadas y su única esperanza es la República Islámica; para ellos se debe pensar más… su interés por el Imán Jomeini es indescriptible”.
