Durante la noche del viernes, Irán lanzó cinco misiles balísticos hacia Israel, activando las sirenas en el centro del país. Aunque los servicios de emergencia informaron de un incendio en Holon, no hubo víctimas, y el impacto de los misiles no dejó heridos.

Poco después, Israel informó haber atacado infraestructura de misiles en Irán, con explosiones reportadas por residentes en ciudades como Teherán e Isfahán. Las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (IDF) indicaron que durante estos bombardeos fue abatido Aminpour Joudaki, alto comandante de la Guardia Revolucionaria, quien estaba al frente de la segunda brigada de vehículos aéreos no tripulados (UAV) de la Fuerza Aérea del cuerpo élite iraní.

A pesar de la escalada de ataques en curso, se han producido avances diplomáticos. Irán comunicó que estaría dispuesto a reanudar las conversaciones con Estados Unidos si el presidente Donald Trump ordenara a Israel cesar sus ataques. Sin embargo, Trump indicó que sería “muy difícil” hacer tal solicitud.

En paralelo, funcionarios iraníes y europeos celebraron conversaciones en Ginebra, que comenzaron de forma tensa, pero evolucionaron a un tono más positivo, aunque Irán mantiene su negativa a suspender su capacidad de enriquecimiento de uranio.

The Democratic mayor of Tennessee’s largest city, who has been accused of obstructing federal immigration efforts, defended his office’s decision to publicly dox the names of immigration officers.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s defense came even after the names of federal immigration officials were removed from a public immigration report detailing a month’s worth of immigration-related interactions between local police and federal immigration authorities.

Initially, the public report detailed immigration officers’ names, but following backlash over the move the names were taken down.  

«I wouldn’t say it was an endangerment process, I would say they may have some concerns – I’m far more concerned about the overall dynamic we have about unmarked, unidentifiable masked people whisking people into vehicles – i think that’s a bigger concern,» O’Connell, who is currently under investigation by GOP House lawmakers for potentially interfering with federal immigration efforts, said during a press conference with reporters.

O’Connell did add the move was not «intentional,» but then quickly followed up that he wouldn’t have described what happened as «doxing» in the first place.   

«It’s not a process that I would characterize as doxing. It was an unintentional release of names that were already part of a public record,» he told reporters. «They were already part of a public record by being in Department of Emergency Communication’s calls, so I don’t think it puts them at additional risk. But it’s also not an intention of the executive order under which those names are released.»

Fox News Digital reached out to O’Connell’s office for comment but did not hear back in time for publication. 

Larry Adams, an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Assistant Field Office Director, told local Fox affiliate in Nashville WZTV that ICE agents disagree that making their names public is not a risk, noting their faces can easily be matched to photos on social media.

«It has gotten more and more difficult,» Adams said of his job under the new administration’s aggressive deportation tactics, during a ride along with WZTV that occurred last week. «What affects me the most, is we understand the job we are doing, we understand what we sign up for, it’s mostly the attacks or threats against our families.»

After Tennessee Republican Congressman Rep. Andy Ogles requested the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) investigate the Nashville mayor over allegedly obstructing federal officials, the agency followed through and opened an investigation. Meanwhile, two congressional committees are also investigating him, including requesting documents related to O’Connell’s Executive Order 30, which has required city departments to report federal immigration communications to the city of Nashville’s Office of New Americans.  

In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin remarked at the danger associated with doxing federal immigration officers, noting that the act effectively handed cartels intelligence «on a silver platter.»

«These are the tip of the spear, these are the people on the front lines trying to make our communities safer,» McLaughlin said. «So, when Democrats and the media show us who they are, we’ll believe them, and it’s the fact that they’re fighting for people like MS-13 and child rapists to be on American streets.»

According to local news outlet, the Tennessee Lookout, McLaughlin has also clapped back at O’Connell’s claims that the release of immigration officials’ names was a mistake. 

«They claimed it was a mistake. There’s zero chance it was a mistake, and there will be repercussions,» she said, according to the outlet.

El director general del Organismo Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA) hizo un repaso de los daños sufridos por sitios claves de Irán, tras ocho días de ataques cruzados con Israel. Si bien aclaró que por ahora los daños se lograron contener, remarcó que el «peligro» persiste.

Especialmente si se bombardea la central de Bushehr, advirtió tras presentar un informe de los daños sufridos por las estructuras nucleares y los riesgos de los bombardeos que inició Israel el pasado 13 de junio y que los iraníes han respondido con el lanzamiento de drones y misiles contra territorio israelí.

«Se trata del sitio nuclear de Irán donde las consecuencias de un ataque podrían ser más grave» ya que es una central nuclear en funcionamiento que «alberga miles de kilogramos de material nuclear», dijo sobre las instalaciones, ubicadas 1.245 kilómetors al sur de Teherán.

Un ataque a esta central, «podría provocar una liberación muy elevada de radiactividad» a «cientos de kilómetros» y podría requerir «aplicar restricciones alimentarias», agregó.

Por lo tanto, Grossi pidió la «máxima moderación» a las partes en conflicto y recordó que es de «vital importancia que se permita a los inspectores del organismo verificar que se tengan en cuenta todos los materiales relevantes, especialmente los enriquecidos al 60%».

«Más allá de los riesgos radiológicos potenciales, los ataques contra dichos materiales dificultarían este esfuerzo», recordó.

Las hostilidades dejaron al menos 224 muertos en Irán y 25 en Israel, que también mató a numerosos responsables militares y científicos iraníes y ha dañado su infraestructura nuclear.

Poco antes, en el mismo foro, el secretario general de la ONU, Antonio Guterres, había pedido que se dé una «oportunidad a la paz» mientras en Ginebra (Suiza) empezó el diálogo sobre el programa nuclear de Irán entre el jefe de la diplomacia iraní y sus homólogos de la Unión Europea, Francia, Alemania y Reino Unido.

En su informe, la OIEA hizo un reporte del estado actual de los emplazamientos relacionados con la energía nuclear situados en Arak, Isfahán, Natanz y Teherán.

Tras destacar que los daños están contenidos, Grossi reforzó su llamado a evitar ataques. “La escalada militar pone en peligro vidas, aumenta la posibilidad de una emisión radiológica con graves consecuencias para las personas y el medio ambiente y retarda la indispensable labor hacia una solución diplomática que garantice a largo plazo que el Irán no adquiera un arma nuclear”, expresó el director general de la OIEA.

“En Irán hay muchos materiales nucleares en diferentes lugares, por lo que existe la posibilidad de que se produzca un accidente radiológico con dispersión de partículas y materiales radiactivos en la atmósfera”, afirmó el director de la OIEA.

Grossi también subrayó la importancia de cooperar e intercambiar información con las autoridades iraníes.

La agencia nuclear de la ONU «puede garantizar, mediante un sistema de inspecciones irrefutables, que no se desarrollarán armas nucleares en Irán», añadió.

“En estas difíciles y complejas circunstancias, es crucial que el OIEA reciba información técnica puntual y periódica sobre las instalaciones nucleares y sus respectivos emplazamientos. Esta información es necesaria para informar rápidamente a la comunidad internacional y garantizar una respuesta y una asistencia eficaces ante cualquier situación de emergencia en el Irán”, declaró, y añadió que también estaba en contacto permanente con otros países de la región.
