Farage’s Reform UK beats out establishment parties in ‘earthquake’ elections

The right-wing Reform UK Party saw a series of electoral wins early Friday after it secured parliamentary, mayoral and several local election seats in what leader Nigel Farage said is proof that Reform UK is «now the opposition party to this Labour government.»
Farage, who predicted earlier this year in an interview with Fox News Digital that there would be a «political revolution,» said the centurylong, two-party system that has dominated British politics was «now dead» after both the liberal Labour Party and Conservative Party saw losses in a Thursday election.
Reform UK secured a fifth parliamentary seat after Sarah Pochin flipped the Runcorn & Helsby constituency, which is, according to Reform leaders, considered Labour «heartland.»

BRACE FOR A ‘POLITICAL REVOLUTION’ IN EUROPE, UK’S NIGEL FARAGE SAYS AFTER VANCE’S SPEECH IN MUNICH
«Victory in Runcorn & Helsby proves we are now the opposition party to this Labour government,» Farage said on X. «With this and other results tonight, it’s clear that if you vote Conservative you will get Labour. But if you vote Reform, you get Reform.»
The race for the Runcorn & Helsby seat was the most closely watched race and required a full recount, after which it was confirmed that Reform secured the seat by just six votes.
Farage championed the victory as «a small margin» but «a huge win.»
The Labour Party – which is led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer – currently holds 403 seats in Parliament, followed by the Conservative Party, which holds 121. Liberal Democrats hold 72 seats, while Independents hold 14. The remainder of the 40 other seats are divided between 11 other parties, including Reform.

Andrea Jenkyns also snagged the mayorship for Greater Lincolnshire, which has for years been dominated by the Conservative Party.
Reform UK’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, reportedly told Times Radio on Friday, «It’s certainly a political earthquake because up and down the country in some 650 elections, give or take, voters have voted and the votes are coming in against the main two parties.»

According to Farage, the rise in Reform UK supporters suggests the Conservative Party – which he was a former member of but left in the 90s and eventually started the Brexit Party before changing the name to Reform UK in 2021 – is losing support.
«You’re witnessing the end of a party that’s been around since 1832,» he told reporters, according to a Reuters report.

Maxine Waters torched by feds for ‘taunting’ guardsmen and ‘spewing lies’ about riots, trying to enter jail
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
A top Homeland Security official lambasted Rep. Maxine Waters for «lies» about the peacefulness of the riots and her efforts to force entry into a detention center to meet a detained union leader.
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital on Monday that access to the Los Angeles detention facility was «temporarily restricted» to ensure the safety of both detainees and uniformed personnel – when Waters hurried toward a group of guardsmen entering a plywood-protected door to the building over the weekend.
The 86-year-old, 18-term Democrat approached the guardsmen saying, «Hello, hello, hello — I’m Congresswoman Waters,» but the last one bluntly told her to talk to «public affairs» and slammed the door.
«As a result, Congresswoman Maxine Waters was denied entry,» McLaughlin said of that exchange.
MAXINE WATERS TAUNTS ARMED AGENTS AFTER FEDS SLAM DOOR ON HER DURING LA RIOTS: ‘YOU BETTER SHOOT STRAIGHT’
«The safety and security of DHS personnel, ICE agents, and those in our custody remain our top priority.»
Going on to reference when Waters, D-Calif., hollered at assembled armed guardsmen on the street and asked if they planned to shoot her, McLaughlin said the lawmaker’s efforts could be better used elsewhere.
«Instead of taunting national guard members, the congresswoman should be trying to defuse these violent riots,» she said.
«Elected officials need to tone down their dangerous rhetoric about ICE law enforcement.»
President Donald Trump had federalized the California National Guard, and Waters accused him of not properly informing Gov. Gavin Newsom, in one clip of comments to reporters.
DHS also rebuked Waters’ summary appearance on TV following clips of her various confrontations going viral:
«This morning on CNN, the congresswoman spewed lies that these riots have not been violent,» McLaughlin said.
MCCARTHY: MAXINE WATERS FINDS ‘VALUE IN VIOLENCE’

«The American people can see with their own eyes the truth. Rioters have assaulted law enforcement officers, thrown rocks, burned American flags, set cars on fires, slashed tires, defaced buildings, and taxpayer-funded property.»
«The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable and Congresswoman Waters must call for it to end.»
Waters had told anchor Wolf Blitzer that «everybody was wondering what happened to» David Huerta, the SEIU leader detained during one of the immigration raids that sparked the violence.
She said she was wearing a congressional emblem on her jacket but lamented that the guardsmen still didn’t allow her in.
She called protests in the immediate area «very small and very peaceful – there was no animosity.»
Waters also expressed concern that the assembled guardsmen were armed, saying that «Trump has instigated all of this.»

«My message to Donald Trump, you are a cruel human being — and you are using the poorest people in the land… to promote your politics,» Waters said separately.
«His ridiculousness has taken over the armed services to celebrate his birthday coming up,» Waters added, referring to the president’s planned military parade to signify the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army – which will also coincide with Flag Day and his 79th birthday.
In a statement on the incident, Waters said she went to the Metropolitan Detention Center to check on Huerta – whom the SEIU said was «caught» in one of a series of ICE raids in Los Angeles County the union described as «a violent sweep.»
Waters also alluded to another viral clip she produced, which showed her taunting armed agents standing in formation in another part of the city.

«I pled [sic] with the National Guard, which was heavily armed, not to use their weapons against peaceful demonstrators who were simply exercising their rights to freedom of speech and protest,» Waters said in a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter.
«All people deserve to be treated with dignity and due process under the law: Peaceful, nonviolent demonstrations are critical to protecting our constitutional rights.»
«The President of the United States is a cruel, dishonorable human being,» she said, adding that he and others would «just as soon» like to see agents «shoot somebody down.»
When filmed confronting National Guardsmen on the street, Waters shouted, «You’re gonna shoot an elected official? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight.»
Fox News Digital reached out to Waters’ office for additional comment, but she could not immediately be reached.

DHS fires back at Democrats for ‘beyond the pale’ rhetoric as ICE agents face wave of violent threats

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is continuing to call on Democrats to tone down the rhetoric against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as riots not only persisted in Los Angeles Sunday night, but agents continue to face threats of doxxing and violence.
The department has taken issue with not only California leaders but also House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
«The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable and Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom must call for it to end,» DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a Saturday statement. «The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.»

«Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE,» McLaughlin stated. «From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is beyond the pale. This violence against ICE must end.»
The department says there’s been a 413% increase in assaults against ICE agents, which comes as the riots in Los Angeles are centered against the presence of the agency in the city.
Wu and Jeffries recently faced criticism for their comments on ICE agents masking while conducting sweeps to conceal their identity for safety reasons.
«Every single ICE agent who is engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that,» Jeffries said on Capitol Hill.
«This is America. This is not the Soviet Union,» he added, saying identification is needed to comply with the law and have proper «transparency.» «We’re not behind the Iron Curtain. This is not the 1930s. And every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, will of course be identified.»
Wu was slammed for comments where she drew a tie between ICE and neo-Nazi group Nationalist Social Club-131 for the masking decision, which DHS called «sickening,» according to the Boston Herald.

«I don’t know of any police department that routinely wears masks,» Wu said. «We know that there are other groups that routinely wear masks. NSC-131 routinely wears masks.»
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2024, also controversially drew a comparison to the Nazis in May.

«I’m gonna start with the flashing red light — Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets,» Walz claimed at a University of Minnesota law school commencement speech. «They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons. No chance to mount a defense. Not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye. Just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans, and disappeared.»
In California, the anti-ICE riots triggered an order from President Donald Trump to deploy to the National Guard, which Newsom is expected to take legal action against. Newsom repeatedly has said that the Trump administration has instigated the situation «to manufacture chaos and violence,» and has said that those who are committing «violent acts» will face legal repercussions and are playing into the president’s hands.

«Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel,» Newsom stated Friday. «Donald Trump’s chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America’s economy.»
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called on residents not to «engage in violence and chaos» and to not «give the administration what they want,» Sunday in an X post, but faced scrutiny for Friday comments saying that «these tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city.»

When Fox News Digital reached out to Newsom’s office about DHS’ comments, they sent a link to a post in which Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons credited Newsom for complying with ICE detainers for those already behind bars.
Fox News Digital reached out to the offices of Wu, Bass, Walz and Jeffries and did not receive replies.
