Netanyahu slams ‘terrorist-supporting’ UN council that accused Israel of committing sexual crimes
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is facing intense backlash from Israel over its report accusing Israel of employing sexual violence against Palestinians since October 2023. The report, entitled «’More than a human can bear’: Israel’s systematic use of sexual, reproductive and other forms of gender-based violence since October 2023» contains serious allegations against the Jewish state.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement on the report, calling the UNHRC «an antisemitic, corrupt, terrorist-supporting and irrelevant body.»
«Instead of focusing on crimes against humanity and the war crimes committed by the Hamas terrorist organization during the worst massacre against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, the UN once again chooses to attack the State of Israel with false accusations, including outrageous and baseless allegations of sexual violence. This is not a Human Rights Council – it is a Blood Rights Council,» Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a statement.

UN FINALLY RECOGNIZES THAT ISRAELI WOMEN WERE RAPED, SEXUALLY ATTACKED BY HAMAS TERRORISTS
Multiple Israeli officials said the report constituted a «blood libel» and said it ignored the acts of sexual violence on Oct. 7.
US Ambassador Designate to the United Nations Elise Stefanik also condemned the «baseless report» as «antisemitic and anti-Israel slander.»
«The so-called ‘Human Rights Council’ has failed to condemn the barbaric atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists against Israel including the brutal slaughter, torture, kidnapping of thousands of innocent civilians, and Hamas’ horrific use of rape and sexual violence against Israeli women and girls, yet disgracefully attacks Israel with unfounded smears,» Stefanik said in a statement.
Additionally, Israeli U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon called the report «another vile and distorted document from the UN.»
«This report is not even worth the paper it was printed on. Anyone who supported this false publication is complicit in whitewashing Hamas’ war crimes and trampling on the truth,» Danon said in a statement. «The UN is busy looking for ways to blame Israel instead of facing reality. History will judge you.»

UNITED NATIONS SLAMMED FOR SILENCE OVER HAMAS RAPES, MUTILATION AND MURDER OF ISRAELI WOMEN, CRITICS SAY
UNWatch Executive Director Hillel Neuer told Fox News Digital, «the U.N. inquiry is as objective as a Stalinist show trial, and that’s why they completely twisted the facts to falsely accuse Israel of the crimes that Hamas actually committed.»
The report documents a wide range of alleged abuses by Israeli troops, which it calls the Israel Security Forces (ISF), rather than the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the military’s actual name in both Hebrew and English. The report also condemned how Israel was carrying out the war, saying that the destruction led to «disproportionate violence against women and children.»
Additionally, there are complaints in the report of forced public stripping. However, Israel has said that this is necessary to ensure detainees are not hiding explosives. Former IDF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus was quoted in the report as saying this in a 2023 CNN interview. Even the report acknowledges that «strip-searches for security justifications are not unlawful,» but claims that Israel’s process was not up to international standards.

Chair of the Commission Navi Pillay condemned the «deplorable increase in sexual and gender-based violence.» She also says that Israel uses sexual violence to «terrorize» Palestinians and to create «a system of oppression that undermines their right to self-determination.»
«For decades, the head of the Inquiry, Navi Pillay, has been the world’s leading champion of the 2001 UN ‘Durban Declaration’ slander that a Jewish state is a racist state. Inquiry members have referred to the ‘Jewish lobby’ controlling social media and then complained that antisemitism is ‘always raised as a diversion,’» Anne Bayefsky, Director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust and President of Human Rights Voices told Fox News Digital.
The commission claims that sexual violence, including rape, is part of the IDF’s «standard operating procedures towards Palestinians.»
Bayefsky alleges the commission «ignored hundreds of thousands of submissions which challenged their conclusions… They have also refused to hear testimony from NGOs that would have contradicted the veracity of their pre-determined end product.»
«The Independent International Commission of Inquiry is an independent body mandated by the Human Rights Council, over which the secretary-general has no authority,» Secretary-General António Guterres’ spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told Fox News Digital. «The secretary-general has spoken out repeatedly at the horrors we have seen in this conflict. He continues to be deeply alarmed by the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reiterates his call for all parties to respect international humanitarian law and international human rights law. He underlines that there needs to be accountability.»
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, for the first time, on Wednesday addressed the Signal-chat controversy and conceded that «someone made a big mistake» when a journalist from the Atlantic was added to Signal text chain that included Washington’s top national security heads.
«This thing was set up for purposes of coordinating,» Rubio told reporters from Jamaica, noting the point of the text exchange carried out on the encrypted messaging application was purely so officials knew how to communicate with their various counterparts.
But the revelation that potentially classified information was exchanged on a site that has been the target of Russian hackers, and that the chain included an editor from the Atlantic, sent shockwaves globally – though the Pentagon maintains that no classified intelligence was exchanged in the messages.

«Obviously, someone made a mistake. Someone made a big mistake and added a journalist,» Rubio said. «Nothing against journalists. But you ain’t supposed to be on that thing.»
«I contributed to it twice. I identified my point of contact, which is my chief of staff, and then later on, I think three hours after the White House’s official announcements had been made, I congratulated the members of the team,» he continued.
Rubio said that though the information was not technically classified nor did it at «any point threaten the operation of the lives of our servicemen,» the information was «not intended to be divulged» and the White House was investigating the matter.
President Donald Trump has downplayed the severity of the lapse, noting it was «the only glitch in two months» his administration has faced and told NBC News the debacle «turned out not to be a serious one.»
National security advisor Mike Waltz, who reportedly set up the text chain and accidentally added the Atlantic editor, told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that he took «full responsibility» for the «embarrassing» mishap.
Similarly, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday told the House Intelligence Committee it was a «mistake» to include a reporter in a text group that included «candid and sensitive» information.
She also maintained that the texts did not include any classified information while testifying in front of senators on Tuesday.

Debate between the Atlantic’s reporting and the White House erupted after the Trump administration and Pentagon said that no «war planning» information was shared.
Waltz in a Wednesday tweet said, «No locations. No sources & methods. NO WAR PLANS. Foreign partners had already been notified that strikes were imminent.»
The Atlantic maintains the texts did include «attack plans.»

But Rubio, in alignment with other administration officials, pointed to the Pentagon’s assessment on whether its leader released classified information and said, «They made very clear that [the texts] didn’t put in danger anyone’s life or the mission at the time.
«There was no intelligence information,» Rubio added.

La revista estadounidense The Atlantic publicó el miércoles el plan de ataque del ejército estadounidense contra los hutíes en Yemen, que su redactor jefe recibió accidentalmente, después de que el gobierno de Donald Trump afirmara que no estaba protegido por el secreto de defensa.
Este segundo artículo, después del lunes, incluye capturas de pantalla de mensajes del secretario de Defensa, Pete Hegseth, con los horarios de los ataques planeados contra el grupo rebelde yemení, dos horas antes de que tuvieran lugar el 15 de marzo.
El escándalo ha sacudido a la administración del presidente Donald Trump, que por ahora ha reaccionado atacando a The Atlantic y negando irregularidades.
El portavoz del consejo de Seguridad Nacional, Brian Hughes, dijo el lunes que la cadena de mensajes citados por The Atlantic parecía «auténtica».
Sin embargo, el vicepresidente JD Vance, que figura en el chat de la mensajería Signal, afirmó que The Atlantic «sobrevendió» la historia.

El titular del primer artículo de la prestigiosa revista era «La administración Trump me envió por error sus planes de guerra».
En él, el redactor jefe de The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, describía cómo había sido añadido por error a un grupo de discusión en Signal, en el que los más altos cargos del gobierno, incluidos los jefes del Pentágono y la CIA, conversaban sobre futuros ataques contra los hutíes, aliados de Irán.
Donald Trump restó importancia el martes a esta espectacular filtración, que calificó de simple «fallo» de un periodista «depravado».
«No se compartió información clasificada» en este grupo de discusión, sostuvo el martes la directora de inteligencia estadounidense, Tulsi Gabbard.
En su nuevo artículo, la revista informa haberse puesto en contacto con funcionarios del gobierno después de que se hicieran estas declaraciones para preguntarles si estaban de acuerdo con la publicación de mensajes más específicos que los mencionados en el primer artículo.
La Casa Blanca dijo que no, según The Atlantic, que no obstante publicó el grueso de los intercambios, enmascarando únicamente el nombre de un agente de la CIA.
«1215: despegan los F-18 (primer grupo de ataque)», escribe Pete Hegseth en este grupo de chat.
«El objetivo terrorista está en su zona conocida», escribía el 15 de marzo, en estilo telegráfico, el secretario de Defensa.
«1410: Se LANZAN más F-18 (2º paquete de ataque)«, escribe el jefe del Pentágono en un momento dado. «1415: Drones de ataque en el objetivo (AQUÍ ES CUANDO CAERÁN DEFINITIVAMENTE LAS PRIMERAS BOMBAS)».
Poco después Mike Waltz envió información en tiempo real sobre las consecuencias de un ataque: «Edificio colapsado. Tuve múltiples identificaciones positivas» y «trabajo increíble».
Los hutíes afirman que estos ataques estadounidenses han matado a unas cincuenta personas y herido a un centenar.

Brasil: los cinco delitos que le imputan a Jair Bolsonaro rondan los 40 años de prisión
La Corte Suprema de Brasil imputó este miércoles al ex presidente ultraderechista Jair Bolsonaro por cinco delitos cuyas penas rondan los 40 años de prisión en total, en el marco del proceso por un supuesto intento de golpe de Estado para anular la victoria de Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva en los comicios de 2022.
Los delitos por los que el ex mandatario (2019-2022) será juzgado, junto a otros altos cargos militares y de su Gobierno, están castigados con penas que van de seis meses a 12 años de prisión cada uno, si bien la ley brasileña limita a 30 años la privación de libertad.
Por otro lado, en caso de condenar, el cálculo de la pena dependerá de si los magistrados determinan que cada crimen es independiente o si concluyen que ciertos crímenes están incluidos dentro de otros más amplios y, por tanto, solo se aplica el castigo de estos últimos, según los juristas consultados por EFE.
La defensa de Bolsonaro ha rechazado las acusaciones y ha acusado de cometer irregularidades a los investigadores y al propio magistrado instructor del caso.
1. Golpe de Estado
El más grave de todos los delitos que se le imputa, con una pena de cuatro a 12 años de prisión, es definido por la ley como el «intento de deponer, por medio de la violencia o amenaza grave, al Gobierno legítimamente constituido».
La denuncia de la Fiscalía, admitida hoy por el Supremo, afirma que este propósito se vio reflejado en los «ataques recurrentes» al proceso electoral, la «manipulación indebida» de las fuerzas de seguridad para interferir en los comicios, y «la convocatoria del alto comando del Ejército para obtener apoyo militar» a un supuesto decreto con el que se pretendía anular los resultados electorales.
2. Intento de abolición violenta del Estado democrático de derecho
Prevé un castigo de entre cuatro y ocho años de prisión y, si bien está estrechamente relacionado con el delito de golpe de Estado, este tipo penal pone el foco en el intento de «impedir o restringir el ejercicio de los poderes constitucionales», lo que incluye al Poder Legislativo y al Judicial y no se limita al Ejecutivo.
Según la denuncia, Bolsonaro y los otros acusados «minaron» los poderes constitucionales frente a la opinión pública, «incitaron a la violencia contra sus estructuras», en referencia a la invasión violenta de las sedes del Supremo, Congreso y Presidencia el 8 de enero de 2023, y planearon el asesinato de Lula, entonces presidente electo, y de un magistrado del Supremo.
3. Organización criminal armada
La Fiscalía acusa a Bolsonaro de liderar una organización criminal armada, un delito castigado con una pena de prisión de entre tres y ocho años y que puede aumentar en caso de aplicarse agravantes si el denunciado ejerció el comando, si era funcionario público o si la actuación contempló el uso de armas de fuego.
La organización supuestamente comandada por el expresidente, de acuerdo con el Ministerio Público, se desarrolló con «orden jerárquico», tuvo una «fuerte influencia de sectores militares» y presentó una «división de tareas» entre sus integrantes.
4. Deterioro de patrimonio protegido
El delito acarrea una pena de entre uno y tres años de prisión para quien actúe para «destruir, inutilizar o deteriorar» bienes protegidos por la ley.
Según la denuncia, la trama liderada por Bolsonaro dio apoyo «moral y material» a la turba que invadió de forma violenta la sede del Supremo, el Congreso y la Presidencia en enero de 2023 y que provocó daños valorados en por lo menos 26,6 millones de reales (unos 4,6 millones de dólares).
5. Daño calificado contra patrimonio público
Es definido como aquel daño cometido con violencia y con perjuicio «considerable» para la víctima, prevé una pena de cárcel de seis meses a tres años, y también está relacionado con la destrucción durante los eventos del 8 de enero.
