Trump admin files first racketeering charges against massive migrant terrorist group present in U.S.
The first RICO racketeering charges against members and associates of the migrant terrorist group Tren de Aragua were filed this week in New York.
A statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said that the case is part of «Operation Take Back America,» which it said is a «nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Justice Department to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.»
According to the statement, the charges filed against 27 alleged current and former Tren de Aragua (TdA) members include human smuggling, sex trafficking and murder.
«Today, we have filed charges against 27 alleged members, former members, and associates of Tren de Aragua, for committing murders and shootings, forcing young women trafficked from Venezuela into commercial sex work, robbing and extorting small businesses, and selling ‘tusi,’ a pink powdery drug that has become their calling card,» announced Matthew Podolsky, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Podolsky said that the indictments «make clear that this Office will work tirelessly to keep the law-abiding residents of New York City safe, and hold accountable those who bring violence to our streets.»
The charges were filed in two separate indictments, the first against six alleged current members of Tren de Aragua and the second against 21 alleged members and associates of a splinter gang known as «Anti-Tren,» which consists of former TdA members.
The Trump State Department has designated Tren de Aragua, as well as several other migrant gangs present throughout the U.S., as foreign terrorist organizations.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said that 21 of the 27 alleged gang members and associates are currently in federal custody. The statement said that 16 were already in federal criminal, immigration, or state custody and five were arrested over the last couple of days.

Most of the alleged gang members are in their twenties, with the oldest being 44. Many are facing multiple life in prison sentences if they are found guilty.
Charges include racketeering, sex trafficking, alien importation, drug trafficking and carjacking conspiracy, robbery, illegal firearms possession and use and extortion.

Among the most egregious of the charges included in the indictments are the smuggling of «multadas» – indentured sex workers – from Venezuela into Peru and the U.S. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office statement, both TdA and Anti-Tren operate keep the multadas trapped in a life of sex slavery by threatening to kill them and their families and by assaulting, shooting and killing them and tracking down those who attempted to flee.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi commented on the RICO charges, saying: «Today’s indictments and arrests span three states and will devastate TdA’s infrastructure as we work to completely dismantle and purge this organization from our country.»

«Tren de Aragua is not just a street gang,» said Bondi. «It is a highly structured terrorist organization that has destroyed American families with brutal violence, engaged in human trafficking, and spread deadly drugs through our communities.»
New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch also praised the operations, saying that «for the first time ever, TdA is being named and charged as the criminal enterprise that it is.»

«This gang has shown zero regard for the safety of New Yorkers,» said Tisch. «As alleged in the indictment, these defendants wreaked havoc in our communities, trafficking women for sexual exploitation, flooding our streets with drugs, and committing violent crimes with illegal guns. Thanks to the dedicated members of the NYPD and the important work of our federal partners, their time is up.»
The U.S. Attorney’s Office statement also mentioned that this case received significant support from Joint Task Force Vulcan, a collection of U.S. attorneys’ offices and law enforcement agencies that was created in 2019 to eradicate the Salvadoran gang MS-13 and has now expanded to target Tren de Aragua.

JOHANNESBURG – Julius Malema, the South African politician who President Donald Trump wants arrested for repeatedly chanting «kill the farmer,» is reportedly a Rolex watch-wearing Gucci revolutionary, often seen in snazzy, expensive clothes, who champions the poor from a luxury mansion in what is said to be South Africa’s richest street.
He has also called for the further arming of the terror group Hamas and has been accused of stealing millions of dollars from the very pensioners he is trying to get to vote for him.
Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with a video of Malema shouting «Shoot to kill, Kill the Boer (the Afrikaner), kill the farmer,» when the South African president, a neighbor of Malema’s in Johannesburg, visited the Oval Office earlier this month.

Trump has offered Afrikaner farmers, descendants of mostly Dutch settlers, refuge in the U.S., citing controversial and disputed claims that they are facing White genocide and forced land seizures.
The self-styled commander in chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party, Malema, a Marxist-Leninist, was the head of the Youth League of South Africa’s biggest party, the African National Congress (ANC), but he was kicked out for bad-mouthing its leadership.
In last year’s election, votes for the EFF slumped to under 10%, and both of Malema’s sidekicks, party co-founders and men he described as «brothers,» left him and joined a competing party.
So it did not come as a surprise to many that, allegedly to spite President Trump, Malema just days later jumped up, literally, onto the stage at the very next rally he was due to appear at to yell «Kill the farmer, I repeat kill the farmer.»
In 2022, South Africa’s Constitutional Court, the equivalent of the U.S. Supreme Court, ruled the chant is not hate speech, declaring it is only the words of a song. Malema sits on the Judicial Services Commission, a body which appoints the Court’s judges.
To Malema, critics say, the chant may be more than just song lyrics. At least twice he told reporters here, «We have not called for the killing of White people – at least for now.» On another occasion, he demanded, «We will cut the throat of Whiteness.»

Some say Malema is running two strategies – one which follows the mantra «There’s no such thing as bad publicity,» and the other to act like a small child that makes a lot of noise, hoping to be noticed, but with little real effect.
Analyst J. Brooks Spector told Fox News Digital that Malema «has crafted a political reputation as the ‘bad boy’ of South African politics.»
Spector, a former U.S. diplomat who lives in Johannesburg and is associate editor of the Daily Maverick, continued. «In a country with a third of its workforce unemployed, and higher among young people, and poverty still a fact of life for many more, his (Malema’s) populism initially drew significant support and enthusiasm among voters. However, his popularity as a political leader has faded somewhat.»
Malema openly supports the terror group Hamas, telling a rally in 2023, shortly after the October 7 attack on Israel, «when you are oppressed, you only have one option, shoot to kill. There is nothing wrong with what Hamas is doing. The EFF is going to arm Hamas.» He also shouted he intended to shut down the Israeli Embassy in South Africa. «We are going to remove this embassy,» he yelled to loud cheers.

Allegations also suggest that Malema and his then right-hand man, Floyd Shivambu, benefitted from «dodgy» deals with the South African VBS bank, which subsequently collapsed, leading to people losing their pension savings.
«In 2018, the VBS scandal exposed widespread looting by bank officials and politicians, including senior leaders of the EFF, Floyd Shivambu and Julius Malema,» the Opposition Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Baxolile Nodada stated last August.
On Friday, the DA’s federal executive member and national spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, told Fox News Digital the DA «isn’t letting the VBS scandal fade into the background. Not when over R2 billion ($111 million) was looted from pensioners, struggling municipalities, and poor communities. The DA has been leading the charge to expose those behind this daylight robbery, including Julius Malema, leader of the EFF.»
He continued, «The DA laid criminal charges back in 2018, but six years later, not a single charge has been prosecuted by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). Justice for the victims of VBS is long overdue. The DA will continue pushing for the arrest and prosecution of every single person involved – Malema included.»
Speaking in Cape Town in July last year, Malema said «I will never be intimidated by VBS. No leader of the EFF received VBS money.»

But now that Malema is on Donald Trump’s radar, the president might push back powerfully on Malema’s links to Hamas and the VBS saga, Max Meizlish, senior research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told Fox News Digital.
«Like the ANC that courts Iran and supports Hamas, Julius Malema would be wise to not provoke Donald Trump. After all, Malema was clearly implicated in the VBS scandal and has openly called to «arm Hamas.» Malema could very well find himself the target of Global Magnitsky Act sanctions — a tool which President Trump can wield unilaterally and at a moment’s notice,» Meizlish said.

El Ejército de Israel confirmó este sábado la muerte de Mohamed Sinwar, jefe terrorista de Hamas en Gaza desde el fallecimiento de su hermano, Yahya Sinwar. El comunicado llegó días después de que el primer ministro, Benjamin Netanyahu, informara de su neutralización durante una ofensiva realizada en Khan Younis a mediados de mes.
“Ahora se puede confirmar que, durante una operación conjunta de las Fuerzas Armadas y los servicios de inteligencia, el 13 de mayo de 2025, en la zona de Khan Younis, la Fuerza Aérea israelí atacó y eliminó al terrorista Mohamed Sinwar”, se lee en el texto difundido por las Fuerzas de Defensa.
La ofensiva, suma, estuvo dirigida contra el Hospital Europeo, en el sur de la Franja de Gaza, y dejó un saldo de 28 personas fallecidas, según datos del Ministerio de Sanidad gazatí. Así, además de Mohamed Sinwar, murieron también Mohamad Sabaneh, comandante de la Brigada Rafah de Hamas, y Mahdi Quara, comandante del Batallón Sur de Khan Younis.
El ejército israelí detalló que los líderes de Hamas “operaban en un centro de comando y control subterráneo» en el lugar, “poniendo deliberadamente en peligro a la población civil del hospital y sus alrededores”.
Esta táctica, según las autoridades israelíes, ha sido una recurrente estrategia del grupo terrorista para dificultar los ataques directos contra sus instalaciones y aumentar el costo humanitario de las operaciones militares en la Franja.
La confirmación oficial de la muerte de Mohamed Sinwar se produjo tres días después de que el primer ministro, Benjamin Netanyahu, lo anunciara ante el Parlamento israelí.
Según el medio saudita Al Hadath su cuerpo fue hallado junto a una decena de sus guardaespaldas y del comandante de la Brigada Rafah, Mohamad Shabana, aunque, entonces, la cúpula de Defensa no había podido verificar la información, por lo que no se había expresado al respecto.
Mohamed Sinwar estaba apuntado como el presunto líder de Hamas tras la muerte de su hermano Yahya, también durante un operativo israelí en Rafah, en octubre de 2024, aunque su cargo nunca había sido confirmado por la formación terrorista.
“El nombre del jefe de las Brigadas Ezedin al Qasam se mantendrá en secreto”, apuntó tiempo atrás una fuente del grupo, con la intención de proteger a la nueva cúpula.
En paralelo a la muerte de Mohamed, la pasada semana se confirmó también el fallecimiento de Zakaria Sinwar, otro hermano de Yahya, quien murió a causa de las heridas sufridas durante un bombardeo israelí en el campo de refugiados de Nuseirat.
Ambas bajas representan fuertes golpes para el grupo terrorista, que se ve cada vez más presionado por el avance de las FDI en el territorio.
“La larga mano de Israel atrapará a todos los responsables de los asesinatos y las atrocidades del 7 de octubre, dondequiera que estén, cerca o lejos, hasta que sean completamente eliminados. Los siguientes en la fila son Izz ad-Din al-Haddad en Gaza y Khalil al-Hayya en el exterior, así como todos sus socios criminales”, apuntó el ministro de Defensa, Israel Katz, en sus redes sociales, tras la confirmación del Ejército de este sábado.
Los operativos se produjeron en un contexto de intensificación de las operaciones israelíes en el sur de Gaza.
El bombardeo sobre el Hospital Europeo, donde se encontraba el centro de comando subterráneo, generó preocupación por el elevado número de víctimas civiles y reavivó el debate sobre el uso de infraestructuras civiles por parte de grupos armados y la proporcionalidad de la respuesta militar israelí, así como por el agravamiento de la crisis humanitaria en el territorio.
Gaza es “el único territorio definido en el mundo donde el 100% de la población está en riesgo de hambruna, es el lugar más hambriento del planeta”, lamentó Jens Laerke, portavoz de la Oficina de Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios de la ONU.
