Informe especial: así es El Helicoide, el peor centro de torturas de Venezuela
En el corazón de Caracas, El Helicoide se levanta como un símbolo del terror. Lo que alguna vez fue un proyecto de centro comercial en los años 50 terminó convertido en la sede del Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional (SEBIN) y en una de las cárceles más temidas de Venezuela.
Allí, el gobierno de Hugo Chávez y, más tarde, el de Nicolás Maduro, encerraron a opositores, manifestantes y hasta a sus propios exfuncionarios. El general Raúl Isaías Baduel, exministro de Defensa de Chávez, murió como preso político en El Helicoide en octubre de 2021, sin juicio y en condiciones que nunca se esclarecieron.

El Helicoide fue pensado como un ícono arquitectónico, pero tras la caída de Pérez Jiménez en 1958, quedó abandonado. Décadas después, el chavismo lo transformó en una cárcel para quienes considera “enemigos” del gobierno.
Durante las protestas de 2014 y 2017, cientos de venezolanos fueron trasladados a ese edificio. Hoy, la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) lo señala como el principal centro de torturas del chavismo. Sobrevivientes lo llaman directamente “la máquina del terror”.

Víctor Navarro fue detenido el 24 de enero de 2018. “El Helicoide es el centro de tortura más grande de América Latina”, aseguró. “Ser un preso político en Venezuela es ser víctima de las torturas más atroces, de los crímenes de lesa humanidad que Maduro comete día a día”
Navarro contó que 35 agentes del SEBIN irrumpieron en su casa, lo tiraron al piso, le pusieron una escopeta en la cabeza y lo golpearon. “Me graban y me dicen que diga mi nombre y mi número de documento. Yo digo, Víctor Navarro. 25.510.806, es la misma forma como luego me llamaban en el Helicoide, porque buscan cosificarte cuando te torturan”, relató.
“Me robaron las cosas que había en mi casa. Así empecé a conocer la dimensión del monstruo que opera en Venezuela. Me desaparecieron forzosamente. Yo simplemente preguntaba dónde estaba mi mamá. Me interrogaron muchísimo, que quién era yo, qué hacía, que quién me financiaba. Mi primer día fue de mucho miedo, de no saber qué me iba a pasar. Me amenazaban y me decían que iban a violar a quien era mi novia en ese momento, decían que me iban a violar, decían que había un oficial que le decían ‘El negro’ que tenía el pene del tamaño de mi brazo y que él me iba a violar”, recordó.

“Me golpearon muchísimo, un oficial se sentó frente a mí -yo les había pedido que no me esposaran y me esposaron- y empezó a cargar la pistola, le puso tres balas, la desbloqueó y me metió la pistola en la boca. Literalmente, un movimiento milimétrico me iba a volar la cabeza y a ellos no les importaba, se reían y me decían que les pidiera perdón. ‘Arrodíllate y pídeme perdón’, y yo me arrodillé y les pedí perdón porque yo no quería que me volaran la cabeza”, contó.

Dylan Canache tenía apenas 16 años cuando el SEBIN lo detuvo en enero de 2018, durante la llamada “Operación Guarimba”. Lo acusaron de liderar una “célula terrorista”. “Es lo más cercano al infierno que hay aquí”, afirmó.
Canache vivía en un barrio humilde de Caracas y había participado en protestas en 2017. Por ejercer su derecho, estuvo preso desde el 14 de enero hasta el 2 de junio de 2018.
Organizaciones de derechos humanos denunciaron que Dylan y otros menores sufrieron maltratos físicos y psicológicos: lo obligaron a hacer ejercicios para humillarlo, le golpearon la cabeza con pistolas y tablas, y lo amenazaron constantemente.

Diannet Blanco fue detenida tras participar en las protestas de 2017. Ella ayudaba a recolectar y repartir insumos médicos entre los heridos. Fue víctima de la “operación tun tun”, un allanamiento sin orden judicial. Días antes, Diosdado Cabello la había señalado como “terrorista” en televisión nacional.
“Mi detención fue arbitraria, fui víctima de desaparición forzada temporal”, contó. El SEBIN la trasladó al Helicoide, donde pasó un año y 12 días en una celda de 50 metros cuadrados con 35 mujeres.

“Fui víctima de torturas simplemente por participar en este proceso de protestas. Le es molesto al régimen el hacer el bien, el hacer trabajos humanitarios. Mi derecho a defender derechos es criminalizado. Yo no he cometido ningún delito y mi esposo tampoco ha cometido ningún delito por defender derechos y exigir salarios dignos, exigir condiciones de vida y trabajar por el bienestar de la comunidad”, aseguró.
En junio de 2018, Blanco recuperó la libertad condicional tras un indulto presidencial. Hoy es activista por los derechos humanos y ayuda a jóvenes detenidos a conocer sus derechos.

Antony Vegas fue arrestado por el SEBIN en octubre de 2014. Aunque reconoció haber tenido un arma, el régimen intentó vincularlo con el asesinato del diputado Robert Serra.
“Cuando llego al Helicoide, me llevan a una habitación. Un fiscal abusivo, dañino, me dijo que cuánto me habían pagado, que dónde estaba el jefe de la banda paramilitar, que la mafia colombiana me había contratado y cuánto me había pagado. Yo no sabía lo que estaba escuchando. Me dice que le diga la verdad, porque si no, van a buscar a mi familia, entre ellos mi hija, y la iban a llevar para un refugio. Luego dice, ‘no es como tú piensas, que la vamos a proteger. La vamos a llevar para que la violen’. Eso me derrumbó. En ese momento, yo perdí el control de mí y, literalmente, me pasó por la mente mi hija siendo violada”, contó.
“Luego, me suben a otra habitación donde el nivel de sadismo comienza a aumentar, la maldad comienza a aumentar. Me ponen periódico en las muñecas, me esposan, me ponen periódico en los ojos y luego me echan teipe (cinta adhesiva). Me llené de mucho miedo. Pasaron 10, 15 minutos y me arrodillaron. Se monta un hombre sobre la nuca, otro se monta sobre mi columna y otro me agarra los pies y me dicen ‘cuando vayas a hablar, mueve las manos’, y me ponen una bolsa en la cabeza. Cuando me montan la bolsa, comienzan a asfixiarme demasiado, me asfixian, y yo muevo las manos desesperadamente, pero no paran”, relató.

“Yo lo único que sentía era el deseo de morir para poder calmar ese desespero que había en mí. Me oriné encima y me quitan la ropa. Uno de ellos dice ‘córtale las orejas’, y yo sentí cuando me cortaron las orejas, sentí la sangre corriendo. Uno de ellos dice, ‘métele un palo por el c**o’. (Eso) no pasó. Sentí que iban a acabar con mi vida. Me desmayo. Cuando despierto, estoy amarrada en un cuarto oscuro muy pequeño, pero estoy amarrada de una forma muy maquiavélica, me amarraron de una forma que no me podía sentar ni parar, tenía que estar semiarrodillado. En ese cuarto, duré 10, 15 días. Defecaba y orinaba ahí mismo. Luego, me llevaron a una celda”, agregó.
“Después de mucho tiempo, no podía caminar, me ayudaban para levantarme los que estaban en la celda. Duré seis meses sin ver a mi familia, ellos no supieron, en ese tiempo, dónde estaba yo, qué había pasado conmigo, qué habían hecho conmigo. Para mí, eso era muy angustiante. Yo soy una activista social y, en Venezuela, en este momento, hay ejecuciones extrajudiciales a personas que, quizá por vivir en un barrio, el régimen va y las asesina. Vivimos en un sistema dañino, una dictadura”, cerró.

FIRST ON FOX: Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., said an alleged Iranian state actor recently targeted him with a phishing scheme disguised as a television interview request, in what he described as an apparent effort to access his personal email account.
«A skilled impersonator created something appearing just like Newsmax to attempt to do an interview with me,» Fine told Fox News Digital in an interview, explaining that his staffer began interacting with the message in email, as the office normally does, before realizing «the links didn’t work.»
The phishing scheme was allegedly designed to gain access to his personal Google account, Fine explained.

The incident comes after President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iran in February, sparking an ongoing battle that the president has said will end in a matter of weeks as tensions continue flaring. The Trump administration argued Iran’s nuclear program and missile capabilities posed an urgent threat ahead of the U.S. and Israel launching joint strikes.
Fine said he did not «think the timing was coincidental» and that the alleged cyberattack occurred «literally the day after combat operations began.» The episode underscores heightened concern among U.S. intelligence officials about potential cyber and physical threats tied to the U.S.-Iran conflict, particularly against high-profile political figures.
The FBI confirmed earlier in March that an Iran-linked hacker group known as the «Handala Hack Team» breached Director Kash Patel’s personal email account. A bureau spokesperson said in a statement at the time that while the compromised information was «historical in nature» and contained no government data, the FBI had taken all «necessary steps to mitigate potential risks.»
According to Fine, he learned about the alleged cyberattack aimed at him when U.S. Capitol Police contacted him and said the outreach likely originated from an Iranian state actor.
Fox News Digital reviewed a copy of the correspondence, showing its email was spelled «news-max.org.»
Correspondence to Fine, also reviewed by Fox News Digital, confirmed that USCP said they had information that the outreach to Fine’s office could have originated from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and that the police wanted to set up a call with the FBI Cyber Task Force to further examine the matter.

«They proactively reached out to us,» Fine said, adding that he then reported the incident to the FBI and was told by the bureau that agents were «familiar with these actors in Iran.»
The FBI declined to comment. A source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital that when the incident happened, the FBI was able to connect with Fine and opened an investigation into the matter. The status of the probe is publicly unknown.
Fine emphasized that he felt targeted by Iran and noted a broader surge in threats against him, including verbal threats and what he said was a recent separate incident of an impersonator approaching his home.
«I was clearly targeted. It wasn’t random,» Fine said, asserting that he was «the most visible Jewish Republican politician in America.»

Fine said that while he does not believe the alleged attackers could have gathered much information from his Google account based on his limited use of it, «the worst-case scenario is … they might be able to track my actual location,» which he said made him fear for his life.
Fine described the incident as «very stressful.»
Fine, a self-described «Hebrew Hammer» known for his staunchly pro-Israel positions, has advocated aggressive military action in Gaza and praised Trump’s joint offensives with Israel in Iran.

Fine, in a statement shortly after the U.S. launched strikes on Iran, characterized the mission as one rooted in saving western civilization.
«We are with you, Mr. President. We will cut off the head of the snake of Muslim terror, Bring lasting peace to the Middle East, And save the Iranian People. Bombs away,» Fine said. «The Muslim terrorists that run Iran have just indiscriminately fired rockets not just at the Jews of Israel, but 700,000 Americans who live there, 180,000 Christians who live there, at the ‘Dome of the Rock,’ the third holiest site in Islam, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, site of Jesus’s crucification. We are fighting back against this evil.»

EXCLUSIVE: Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has warned about the growing dangers of antisemitism and attempts to undermine the relationship between Christian and Jewish communities.
Her remarks followed her four-day visit to the U.S. for the «Be Best» First Ladies’ Summit, attending at the invitation of First Lady Melania Trump.
In exclusive comments to Fox News Digital, she said extremist elements on both the far left and right continue to promote antisemitism despite the historical record of where it leads and are seeking to undermine Israel and divide support within the Christian community.
«Israel has never had a prime minister like my husband, who during every visit to the United States makes it a point to meet with leaders of the Christian community, embrace them, listen to them, and maintain a close and genuine relationship as true partners and friends,» she told Fox News Digital.

«The Holocaust was a moment in history that cannot and will not be repeated,» Netanyahu told Fox News Digital, against the backdrop of the ongoing U.S.-Israel military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose leaders have repeatedly threatened to commit genocide against the Jewish state.

Meanwhile, a federal probe last month found some faculty «legitimized and amplified antisemitism» during protests against Israel’s war in Gaza. Encampments spread on campuses, often demanding divestment from Israel-linked institutions and Jewish organizations.
On March 20, the Trump administration sued Harvard, alleging it failed to protect Jewish and Israeli students and enabled antisemitism.
«We are in an existential war — a war of good versus evil — against a force that seeks to destroy Israel and the world,» she said.
«Leaders of the Iranian regime have publicly burned the flags of Israel and the United States. They have called Israel the ‘Little Satan’ and America the ‘Great Satan.’»
She continued, «Israel has never had a better friend than Donald Trump. Together with the [Israeli] prime minister, they are reshaping the Middle East and creating an opportunity for a new future for the entire free world,» she added.

During her U.S. visit, Netanyahu met with multiple first ladies, delivered a speech at the U.S. State Department, held talks with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., engaged with technology and AI companies and hosted a large meeting with parents of children serving in the Israel Defense Forces.

The visit also carried economic implications, leading to expanded dialogue with Microsoft and Meta at the global level.
Netanyahu told Fox News Digital that companies expressed interest in advancing investments worth tens of millions of dollars to implement advanced AI models for remote learning among children and youth — particularly in Israel, where educational continuity has been disrupted by the security situation.
