Resurfaced video shows NYC mayoral hopeful saying he wants to replace private homes with communal living

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist candidate for New York City mayor, has come under fire from critics who label him a «communist» – a charge he dismisses as a distraction.
However, the criticisms may not be as unfounded as Mamdani claims. Videos show the NYC mayoral candidate espousing language and theories rooted in communist revolutionary language.
In one 2021 video, Mamdani urges fellow socialists at a conference to not compromise on goals like «seizing the means of production.» In a second video, released on YouTube by progressive advocacy group The Gravel Institute that same year, Mamdani discusses the need to turn housing from a private commodity to a public one, calling for luxury condos to be replaced with communal style living that would include things like shared laundry facilities and food co-ops.
POLITIFACT DECLARES ZOHRAN MAMDANI IS NOT A COMMUNIST IN FACT-CHECK OF TRUMP

«Why do so many people end up homeless?» Mamdani asks in the video. «It’s not because there aren’t enough homes to go around, there are plenty of empty homes. No. It’s because housing people is not a primary goal of developers or landlords. Their goal, simply put, is to make a profit.»
According to Mamdani, this is a problem. He lamented in the video that housing is «a consumer product, just like clothes or cars» that private businesses sell on the market to make a profit. As a result, Mamdani complains, there is plenty of housing for «the rich» but not nearly enough opportunities for poor and working-class people.
«[It’s] not efficient or beneficial for the rest of society,» Mamdani says. «Housing doesn’t have to be seen as a market at all.»

In the video, Mamdani points to post-war communist Vienna as an example of how removing privatization from the housing market can be good for society. However, he does concede that currently in Vienna, «residents still pay part of their earnings in rent to cover operational costs and a sizable chunk of the population lives in private housing.»
After describing the so-called Vienna model, during which he puts forth a vision of communal living with shared laundry, kitchens, food co-ops, bathhouses, pharmacies, lecture halls, swimming pools and more, he suggests a way forward that includes establishing «community land trusts to gradually buy up housing on the private market and convert it to community ownership.»
«If we want to end the housing crisis, the solution has to be moving toward the full de-commodification of housing,» Mamdani says. «In other words, moving away from the status quo in which most people access housing by purchasing it on the market and toward a future where we guarantee high quality housing to all as a human right.»

President Donald Trump has referred to Mamdani as a «100% Communist Lunatic» and vowed to «save New York City» from Mamdani if he gets elected. He has suggested a willingness to withhold federal funds from the city if Mamdani doesn’t «behave.»
«As President of the United States, I’m not going to let this Communist Lunatic destroy New York,» Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social Wednesday. «Rest assured, I hold all the levers, and have all the cards. I’ll save New York City, and make it ‘Hot’ and ‘Great’ again, just like I did with the Good Ol’ USA!»

Conservative firebrand launches ‘TruckSafe Tipline’ to report illegal drivers amid spike in highway deaths

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Amid heightened concern over highway deaths involving illegal immigrant drivers, conservative firebrand Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., is launching a «TruckSafe Tipline» to enable truckers to share concerns about illegals on U.S. roads.
«Indiana is the Crossroads of America and Hoosiers are getting killed because drivers who shouldn’t be here in the first place are behind the wheel,» Banks said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.
Through the online portal, which is already live, concerned citizens are able to share information about carriers they believe are employing or contracting with drivers who are not legally in the United States, not authorized to drive a truck, or who cannot meet required English-language safety standards.
A spokesperson for Banks’ office told Fox News Digital that reports submitted to the TruckSafe Tipline will be reviewed by the senator’s staff and shared with the U.S. Department of Transportation and its Office of Inspector General.

«If you’re driving a truck on our roads, you need to be legal, you need to be able to read traffic signs, and you need to follow the law,» said Banks. «The TruckSafe Tipline gives people on the ground a way to speak up when they see carriers cutting corners and putting lives at risk.»
In an X post, Banks addressed truckers directly, writing, «If you’re a trucker or work in the industry and see something unsafe or know of shady carriers hiring illegals, I want to hear from you.»
This comes shortly after a driver of a semi-truck at the center of a multi-vehicle crash that left four dead in Indiana was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Indiana State Police said the fatal crash happened Tuesday around 4 p.m. in the area of State Road 67 and County Road 550 East in Jay County, where the truck collided with a van.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Fox News that the driver, Bekzhan Beishekeev, is a Kyrgyzstani national who entered the U.S. via the Biden-era CBP One cell phone app on Dec. 19, 2024, at the Nogales, Ariz., port of entry, and he was released into the U.S. via parole by the Biden administration.

Beishekeev, 30, was reportedly driving on SR 67 in Indiana when he didn’t stop for another slowed semi-truck, swerving instead into oncoming traffic and crashing head-on into a van, killing four people, several of whom were reportedly Amish.
Banks’ office remarked that «this was not the first fatal accident caused by an illegal truck driver on Indiana’s roads.» The office pointed to the death of Indiana National Guardsman Terry Frye last November in a crash that involved a Georgian national who entered the country illegally in 2022.
Just a month before that, Borko Stankovic, an illegal alien from Serbia and Montenegro, caused a multi-car accident that killed a 54-year-old. Despite being in the United States illegally since 2011, the Stankovic owned two trucking companies that received over $36,000 in COVID-19 relief funding.
In October, Fox News Digital reported on Illinois-based trucking executive Mike Kucharski, co-owner and vice president of JKC Trucking, blowing the whistle on illegal alien commercial drivers not only endangering American roads but also «killing the trucking business.»

Kucharski explained further that, though a heavily regulated industry, illegal alien truck drivers can exploit a «loophole» in the system by obtaining non-domiciled commercial drivers’ licenses from sanctuary states. They are then able to outcompete legitimate trucking businesses by charging lower prices, leading to the demise of many American small businesses in the industry.
«American truck drivers are patriots and vital to our country. No one is more outraged about what’s happening than them,» Banks wrote in another X post, adding, «Shady trucking companies that hire illegals, put lives at risk, and undercut American drivers’ wages are the problem. We must hold them accountable!»

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also chimed in on X, writing, «[Sen. Banks] is absolutely right! Too many lives have been lost and this must stop.»
«We will crack down on these shady trucking companies and get to the bottom of the crash that killed four members of the Amish community in Indiana,» he said, noting, «Stay tuned for more to come on this.»

AOC accuses Israel of genocide in Germany where Holocaust was launched, sparking outrage

AOC slammed over Israel ‘genocide’ comments

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., alleged at the Munich Security Conference on Friday that U.S. aid to the Jewish state enabled a genocide by Israel. AOC’s attack on the Jewish state in Munich unfolded in the birthplace of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi movement that carried out the worst genocide in human history.
AOC’s assault on Israel’s war campaign to defeat the U.S. and EU-designated terrorist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip sparked outrage and intense criticism from academic military and Middle East experts.
During the town hall event in Munich, the Squad member said, «To me, this isn’t just about a presidential election. Personally, I think that the United States has an obligation to uphold its own laws, particularly the Leahy laws. And I think that personally, that the idea of completely unconditional aid, no matter what one does, does not make sense. I think it enabled a genocide in Gaza. And I think that we have thousands of women and children dead that don’t, that was completely avoidable.»

She continued, «And, so I believe that enforcement of our own laws through the Leahy laws, which requires conditioning aid in any circumstance, when you see gross human rights violations, is appropriate.»
The Leahy Laws prohibit the Department of Defense and the State Department from funding «foreign security force units when there is credible information that the unit has committed a ‘gross violation of human rights.» Former Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-VT., introduced the bill in 1997.
Tom Gross, an expert on international affairs, told Fox News digital that «AOC has flown all the way to Munich — infamous as the city in which Hitler staged his Nazi Beer Hall Putsch that marked the beginning of the road to the Holocaust — in order to smear the Jewish people further with a phony genocide allegation.»
Gross added, «Such preposterous allegations of ‘genocide’ form the bedrock of modern antisemitic incitement against Jews in the U.S. and globally. This shocking ignorance and insensitivity by Ocasio-Cortez should rule her out of any potential presidential bid or other high office.»

RASHIDA TLAIB HIT WITH HOUSE CENSURE THREAT, ACCUSED OF ‘CELEBRATING TERRORISM’ IN PRO-PALESTINIAN SPEECH
Military experts and genocide researchers have debunked the allegation that Israel carried out a genocide against Palestinians during its self-defense war against the Hamas terrorist organization that started after Hamas terrorists attacked communities in parts of southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 that saw over 1200 Israeli and foreign nationals killed and 251 brutally kidnapped and taken into Gaza by Hamas and other terrorists.

Danny Orbach, a military historian from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and co-author of «Debunking the Genocide Allegations: A Reexamination of the Israel-Hamas War from October 7 2023, to June 1, 2025,» told Fox News Digital that Ocasio-Cortez accusation that Israel committed genocide is an «accusation that is incorrect both factually and legally. Under the Genocide Convention, genocide requires proof of a special intent to destroy a protected group, in whole or in part, and as a baseline condition, an active effort to maximize civilian destruction.
«The evidence shows the opposite: as demonstrated in our multi-author study Debunking the Genocide Allegations, Israel undertook unprecedented measures to mitigate civilian harm, including establishing humanitarian safe zones that independently verified data show were approximately six times safer than other areas of Gaza.»

Orbach added, «Israel also issued detailed advance warnings before strikes and facilitated the entry of over two million tons of humanitarian aid, often at significant cost to its own military advantage, including the loss of surprise and the sustainment of an enemy during wartime.»
He concluded, «These measures were taken despite Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre, its systematic use of human shields and hospitals for military purposes, and a tunnel network exceeding 1,000 kilometers — an operational challenge without historical precedent. Finally, no credible evidence demonstrates the kind of unambiguous, exclusive genocidal intent toward Palestinians that international law requires and that cannot be reasonably interpreted otherwise.»
