2 Jewish men stabbed in London attack classified as terrorism

Two people were stabbed in north London on Wednesday in an attack that police have now formally declared a terrorist incident, prompting a major emergency response and an ongoing counterterrorism investigation.
Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, the Metropolitan Police’s counterterrorism chief, said the attack has been officially classified as terrorism as investigators work to determine the motive and whether the Jewish community was deliberately targeted.
Officers were called to Highfield Avenue in the Barnet borough at about 11:16 a.m. following reports of multiple stabbings, according to the Metropolitan Police. Local and armed officers responded alongside the London Ambulance Service.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody, police said. Authorities are working to determine his nationality and background.
Two men, ages 76 and 34, were treated at the scene for stab wounds before being taken to a hospital, where they remain and are «being looked after,» Taylor said.

Police said the suspect also attacked responding officers before he was subdued with a Taser. No officers were injured.
Counterterrorism officers are leading the investigation, working with security services to establish the full circumstances and develop a complete intelligence picture, Taylor said.
«Whilst I must stress this investigation is at an early stage, we are working quickly to understand exactly what happened,» Counter Terrorism Policing head Laurence Taylor said.
NYC POLICE HUNT SUSPECT ACCUSED OF STABBING JEWISH MAN IN CHEST WHILE MAKING ANTISEMITIC STATEMENTS
The stabbing unfolded in the Barnet area, near Golders Green, which is known for its large Jewish community. Authorities have indicated the case is being treated as a potentially antisemitic incident, though motive has not been confirmed.
The stabbing unfolded in the Barnet area, near Golders Green, which is known for its large Jewish community, and police said one line of inquiry is whether the attack deliberately targeted London’s Jewish community, though a motive has not been confirmed.
A statement posted on X by Shomrim, a volunteer neighborhood watch group in Orthodox Jewish communities, said a man was seen «armed with a knife» on Golders Green Road and was detained by members before police arrived. The group claimed the suspect attempted to target Jewish members of the public — a detail police have not independently confirmed.

Shomrim said two victims were treated by Hatzola, a volunteer emergency medical service.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said officers «swiftly Tasered and arrested the suspect before he could cause further harm,» adding that investigators are «considering all possible motives» and will maintain a visible police presence in the area.

Williams said police are «aware of the significant distress and concern this incident is likely to cause,» and will remain in the area to carry out inquiries and reassure residents.
The attack comes amid heightened concern over antisemitic incidents across the United Kingdom. Authorities are examining recent incidents in London but have not established any direct connection.
‘ACT OF VIOLENCE’: NEW JERSEY RABBI INJURED IN SUSPECTED HATE CRIME BEFORE JEWISH HOLIDAY
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the violence, calling attacks on Jewish residents «an attack on Britain,» while London Mayor Sadiq Khan said there is «no place for antisemitism» in the city.
Conservative MP Kemi Badenoch said, «Jewish people in our country are under constant attack. This is no longer a growing pattern. There is an epidemic of violence against Jewish people. It is now a national emergency and needs to be treated as such by the Government and public authorities.»
Dov Forman, a Golders Green resident and Holocaust educator, described the attack as part of what he sees as a broader and deeply concerning trend.

«Yet again, terror has been brought to our doorstep here in Golders Green, in the heart of London’s Jewish community,» Forman said. «Earlier today, two visibly Jewish men were stabbed in what is being described as an antisemitic attack. For many, this is not being seen as an isolated act of violence, but as part of a broader and deeply troubling pattern. There is growing concern that extemist rhetoric and Islamist extremism, including calls to ‘globalize the intifada,’ has helped fuel an environment in which hatred against Jews is increasingly normalized, unchecked, and dangerously emboldened.»
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was «horrified by yet another violent attack on Jews in broad daylight on the streets of London» and called for urgent action.
«No Jew anywhere in the world should be a target because of their faith,» Herzog said, adding that authorities must act «before the next antisemitic attack occurs.»
Authorities urged anyone with information to contact police as the investigation continues.

Sanders-backed gubernatorial hopeful’s past pro-life views clash with current abortion stance

Speaker Johnson defends GOP as ‘vibrant’ party, says it’s in ‘great position’ to win midterms
House Speaker Mike Johnson, on ‘Fox News Sunday’, discusses the Louisiana primary results and President Donald Trump’s significant influence within the Republican party. Johnson outlines the GOP’s strategy for the upcoming midterms, emphasizing economic policies to address voter concerns. He also addresses the legal battle over abortion pills, calling the mailing of drugs «dangerous,» and defends the role of faith in public life.

A Democratic gubernatorial hopeful in Maine, who is scheduled to campaign with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Sunday and Monday, has been pitching himself to voters as a pro-choice candidate for governor, but his track record indicates that wasn’t always his stance.
As a state lawmaker, he received a 100% rating from the Maine Right to Life — a designation indicating a voting record wholly consistent with pro-life policies.
Jackson’s reversal demonstrates the fallout of the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision that ended a constitutional right to an abortion and made the issue, previously a federal debate, a state-driven consideration.
In their 2022 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that no guarantee of a right to an abortion existed in the Constitution, meaning that individual states would have to decide on a case-by-case basis where to draw the line under what circumstances residents could legally end a pregnancy.

Maine, with Jackson’s help, immediately passed expansions to abortion access, removing restrictions on late-term abortions.
The move prompted praise for Jackson from Planned Parenthood, the country’s largest abortion provider.
«We applaud President Jackson and the 20 state senators and 76 representatives acting in the best interest of Mainers today,» Planned Parenthood wrote in a press release.
Just 10 years earlier, Jackson had voted for a bill in 2011 that would have affirmed personhood in the womb.
Two years later, in 2013, Jackson also voted to advance counseling requirements for women considering an abortion, providing them with second-opinion resources designed to explore alternatives to ending a pregnancy.
Both of those efforts failed.

Even so, they garnered enough attention to put Jackson on the radar of abortion rights groups — and not in a good way.
In 2014, EMILY’s List, a pro-abortion group, launched a six-figure TV ad campaign against Jackson, according to local reporting.
«Politicians should not be involved in a woman’s personal medical decisions about her pregnancy. Period,» Emily Cain, Jackson’s primary opponent in 2014, told the Portland Press Herald.
As recently as October 2022, just four months after the Dobbs decision, Jackson told local reporters he was struggling with the issue.
Since declaring his candidacy for governor last May, Jackson seems to have left that struggle behind.
«The right to decide if and when to start a family is fundamental to our freedom and to who we are as Americans. It is a deeply personal decision that should not be made by politicians or justices,» Jackson said in a post to Instagram last year.
«On the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I will continue to fight back against efforts to undermine abortion rights and stand up for reproductive freedom in Maine,» Jackson wrote.
Sanders, who has supported abortion and has run as a pro-choice candidate for decades, officially endorsed Jackson on Friday, calling him the governor «that working Mainers need.»
«Troy is different,» Sanders said. «Fighting for the working class of Maine is not something new for Troy. That’s what he has done for his entire life as a logger and as a member of the Maine state legislature. Troy knows what’s going on with the working class of Maine because he’s part of that working class.»

«Troy has also been part of our progressive working class movement from the beginning,» he continued. «He has always stood with those of us who understand that health care is a human right, that workers deserve a living wage, and that we need a government that works for all-not just the ultra-wealthy and well-connected.»

Notably, Jackson does not list abortion access as a top priority on his campaign website.
In Maine, there is no strict cutoff that prevents abortion at any point in a pregnancy, although some protections apply after viability, around the 24 to 26 week mark. Late-term abortions are permissible with the approval of a licensed physician.

‘A new kind of war’: Inside Ukraine’s hidden factories mass-producing combat drones

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
LVIV, Ukraine: Exclusive — The same Iranian-designed Shahed drones that rain down Lviv in Ukraine nearly every night are now being hunted by weapons built just miles away — inside hidden factories where former students and office workers assemble kamikaze drones and interceptor systems around the clock.
What began as an improvised wartime effort has evolved into one of the world’s fastest-growing military drone industries — one Ukrainian official says Kyiv now leads NATO in battlefield innovation and can offer hard-won lessons for the U.S. and Israel as they confront the same Iranian drone technology across the Gulf.
«Drone technology completely changed the situation in the frontline,» Lviv Mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview, «Maybe in six months, maybe in one year, we will have technology to land 1,000 drones in one moment.

«If we will have more deep collaboration between Ukraine, the United States, Israel and Europe, we will prepare special equipment for our victory,» he said.
Dmytro, CEO of a Ukrainian drone manufacturer producing roughly 1,000 drones a week, told Fox News Digital, «We are three or four steps ahead of other countries…this is a new kind of war,» he said. «It is a war of IT technology.»
Cheap drones now allow small battlefield units to identify and destroy tanks, armored vehicles and even sophisticated air defense systems that once required expensive missiles or fighter aircraft.
That transformation is visible throughout western Ukraine, where defense technology hubs, secret workshops and testing facilities now operate, while in the cities air raid sirens regularly interrupt daily life.

Inside the workshop Fox News Digital visited, workers moved rapidly between tables stacked with propellers, fiber-optic cable and other classified drone components. The workers say they no longer see themselves as civilians temporarily helping the war effort. Many now view drone production as essential to Ukraine’s survival.
Vitaliy, one of the technicians assembling kamikaze drones destined for the front line, said he now builds hundreds of drone components a day. «Targets will be vehicles, tanks, troopers, positions,» he told Fox News Digital.

Referring to President Donald Trump’s statement that he will end the war, Vitaliy said, «I feel honored because I’m helping my country to get peace much faster,» Vitaliy added. «Peace through strength — this is our motivation. But it is mostly on us, for sure,» he said.
Ukraine’s domestic drone production has expanded at a staggering pace. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Boev said earlier this year the country aims to produce more than seven million drones in 2026, up from roughly four million in 2025.
From AI-assisted battlefield systems to drones resistant to Russian electronic warfare, Ukraine’s wartime innovations are exposing vulnerabilities in traditional Western military doctrine.
At another defense technology hub in Lviv, rows of interceptor drones, unmanned ground vehicles and remotely operated weapons systems fill a showroom demonstrating Ukraine’s rapidly evolving battlefield ecosystem.
«We have around 250 tech companies in the system,» said Volodymyr Cherniuk, co-founder of Iron, a Ukrainian defense technology cluster.
Some drones are designed for reconnaissance. Others for evacuation, logistics or direct strike missions. One heavy-lift drone used for nighttime attacks has earned the nickname «Baba Yaga» from Russian troops, which Cherniuk translated as «boogeyman.»
Another interceptor drone is designed specifically to hunt Iranian-made Shahed drones that Russia uses in nightly attacks on Ukrainian cities.
UKRAINE’S ‘SPIDER’S WEB’ DRONE STRIKE BURNS OVER 40 RUSSIAN WARPLANES, MOSCOW CALLS IT ‘TERRORIST ATTACK’
«They can go 300 kilometers per hour,» Cherniuk said. «One hundred grams is enough to shut down a Shahed.»
«We have a lot of Americans, Canadians, Europeans who come here and want our data, feedback from the front line,» Dmytro said.

As Fox News Digital reported from Lviv, air raid sirens repeatedly echoed across the city, a reminder that western Ukraine remains within reach of Russia’s expanding drone campaign.
Russia has dramatically escalated its aerial assaults in the recent week after the end of the short ceasefire, launching massive drone barrages targeting cities and logistical hubs across Ukraine, including areas near NATO territory close to the Polish border.
Ukraine has also increasingly demonstrated its ability to strike deep inside Russian territory with long-range drone attacks targeting areas around Moscow and Russian energy infrastructure.
But the evolving drone war has also increasingly spilled beyond Ukraine and Russia’s borders into NATO territory.
In recent weeks, drones linked to Ukrainian long-range strike operations entered the airspace of Baltic alliance members including Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, triggering political fallout and renewed concerns about regional air defenses. Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds resigned after drones crashed near fuel storage facilities close to the Russian border.

Ukrainian and Baltic officials blamed Russian electronic warfare and GPS spoofing for redirecting the drones off course, arguing Moscow is increasingly using electronic warfare not only defensively, but also to create instability and political pressure inside NATO countries.
The incidents underscore how the same Iranian-designed Shahed drones Russia uses nightly against Ukrainian cities — and similar long-range drone technologies increasingly used by both sides — are reshaping modern warfare far beyond the battlefield itself.
