Rescataron a un nene de 9 años que llevaba un año encerrado en una camioneta en Francia: “No podía caminar”
Un caso estremecedor sacudió a la ciudad de Hagenbach, en el este de Francia, donde la policía rescató a un nene de 9 años que estuvo más de un año encerrado en una camioneta, desnudo y desnutrido.
El chico fue hospitalizado de urgencia y su padre, de 43 años, quedó detenido e imputado por secuestro y privación de cuidados. La pareja del hombre, que no es la madre del menor, también fue imputada por no asistir al niño y por no denunciar los malos tratos.
El viernes, el fiscal de Mulhouse, Nicolas Heitz, confirmó que el menor fue encontrado en condiciones “atroces”: estaba “tumbado en posición fetal, desnudo, cubierto apenas por una manta y rodeado de basura y excrementos”.
“Su peso y su altura no corresponden a un chico de su edad”, detalló el funcionario, y agregó que el nene, que estaba “pálido y manifiestamente desnutrido”, «ni siquiera podía caminar» por haber pasado tanto tiempo sentado. El hallazgo: una vecina escuchó ruidos y alertó a la policía
Todo comenzó el lunes por la noche, cuando una vecina de Hagenbach, a unos 20 kilómetros de Mulhouse, escuchó ruidos de niño que venían de una camioneta estacionada en un patio compartido.
Al llegar la policía, el dueño del vehículo —el padre del chico— intentó justificar que no podía abrir la puerta por un supuesto desperfecto y dijo que su hija se había quedado encerrada.
Pero al abrir la camioneta, los agentes se encontraron con una escena impactante: el nene estaba desnudo, acurrucado sobre un montón de basura y cerca de sus propios excrementos.
El padre fue detenido en el acto y reconoció que había mantenido al chico encerrado desde noviembre de 2024, según él, “para protegerlo” de su pareja, que “quería internarlo en un psiquiátrico”.
El hombre admitió que al principio el chico podía salir con él hasta mayo de 2025 y que durante el verano de ese año le permitió entrar al departamento cuando el resto de la familia estaba de vacaciones.
La pareja del padre, de 37 años, declaró que escuchó ruidos en la camioneta y preguntó si había alguien adentro, pero que su compañero la convenció de que el chico estaba internado.

Ambos quedaron imputados. La mujer fue puesta bajo control judicial, con prohibición de acercarse a los tres chicos de la familia y de volver a Hagenbach.
Los otros dos menores —una hija de él y una hija de ella, de 12 y 10 años— también quedaron bajo protección judicial.
El relato del chico: meses de encierro, hambre y abandono
El pequeño contó a los investigadores que su madrastra “ya no lo quería en el apartamento y deseaba que lo internaran en un hospital psiquiátrico” y que su padre lo había encerrado en la furgoneta “para no internarlo”.
Según su testimonio, el encierro empezó entre septiembre y diciembre de 2024, cuando tenía apenas 7 años.
Durante todo ese tiempo, el padre le llevaba comida y agua dos veces por día.
El chico tenía un bolso con ropa y debía hacer sus necesidades en botellas y bolsas de basura. El hombre incluso instaló una cámara de vigilancia apuntando a la camioneta, y las imágenes lo muestran acercándose dos veces por día y arrojando cosas al interior.
El menor dijo que su última ducha fue a fines de 2024 y que solo pudo volver al departamento durante el verano de 2025, cuando la familia estaba de viaje. En ese período, el padre le dio un celular para que le avisara cuándo podía salir de la camioneta o debía volver a esconderse.
El entorno, bajo la lupa: nadie notó la desaparición
Los vecinos confirmaron que el chico desapareció de un día para el otro y que después escucharon ruidos en la camioneta o en el departamento cuando la familia no estaba.
El padre les decía que los ruidos eran de un gato. La familia del hombre y de su pareja aseguró que no sabían nada y que creían que el chico estaba internado por “problemas psiquiátricos”, como les habían dicho.
Una vecina, entrevistada por la agencia de noticias AFP, describió al padre como “increíblemente servicial”. “Nunca nos lo hubiéramos imaginado”, añadió.
También dijo que presenció el momento en que los bomberos lo sacaron de la camioneta: “el nene estaba envuelto en una manta térmica. Estuve viendo su cara desde el lunes; casi no pude dormir ”.
“Es una locura, no te lo imaginas, es impensable. Solíamos saludarlos y despedirnos, el hombre se iba a trabajar y volvía por la noche. No podíamos ni pensarlo”, explicó otro residente, visiblemente conmovido, a Ici Alsace .
El fiscal Heitz se preguntó cómo nadie del entorno ni del barrio notó la presencia del chico en la camioneta durante tanto tiempo. “Solo al final de la investigación judicial se podrá determinar el desarrollo exacto de los hechos y si hay otras responsabilidades que todavía no fueron investigadas”, advirtió.
La hermana del chico, de 12 años, contó que vivía con su papá desde hacía cuatro o cinco años porque su mamá tenía problemas psicológicos. Dijo que la familia se mudó a Hagenbach a principios de 2024 y que su hermano “cambió de comportamiento”. Dos meses después del inicio de clases, dejó de tener noticias de él y notó que su padre salía seguido al patio para ir a la camioneta.
El fiscal remarcó que no hay pruebas médicas de que el chico tuviera problemas psiquiátricos. Hasta 2024, iba a la escuela primaria en Mulhouse y tenía muy buenas notas. Ahora, la Justicia ordenó peritajes psicológicos para “determinar el trauma exacto” que sufrió.

A malnourished 9-year-old boy was found lying in the fetal position in his father’s utility van in eastern France this week after allegedly being locked in the vehicle two years ago.
The boy, who was unable to walk after sitting for so long, was discovered Monday after a neighbor heard the «sounds of a child» coming from the van, local prosecutor Nicolas Heitz said Saturday.
Officers in the village of Hagenbach, near the border with Switzerland and Germany, found the boy «lying in a fetal position, naked, covered by a blanket on top of a mound of trash and near excrement» after forcing the van open, Heitz said.
The boy told authorities he hadn’t showered since 2024.

The boy’s father was charged with kidnapping. He claimed to police that he had locked his son in the van in November 2024 to «protect» him from his partner who wanted to send him to a psychiatric hospital, according to the prosecutor.
But the prosecutor said there was no medical record of the boy having psychiatric problems, and he had gotten good grades in school.
When the boy disappeared, his teachers were told he had transferred to another school.
The man’s partner, who denied knowing the boy was locked in the van, has also been charged, including for failure to help a minor in danger.

The boys’ family and friends told police they believed the boy was in a psychiatric hospital.

The boy’s 12-year-old sister and the 10-year-old daughter of the man’s partner are under the care of social services.

The fate of the President Donald Trump-touted 250-foot Triumphal Arch will be decided next week at a White House Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) meeting after the official proposed designs of the monument were filed by the Trump administration and released for the first time Friday.
«I am pleased to announce that TODAY my Administration officially filed the presentation and plans to the highly respected Commission of Fine Arts for what will be the GREATEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL Triumphal Arch, anywhere in the World,» Trump said in Truth Social post.
«This will be a wonderful addition to the Washington D.C. area for all Americans to enjoy for many decades to come!»

Speculation has swirled about the final look of the proposed arch since late last year, with many iterations making the rounds on social media before the official mock-ups were shared earlier today.
The mock-up, designed by architecture firm Harrison Design, is a 12-page addendum shared on the Commission of Fine Arts official meeting page.

According to those mock-ups, the arch rises to 250 feet, evoking the nation’s 250th anniversary and more than double the height of the nearby 99-foot Lincoln Memorial.
The central opening of the arch in the provided designs is roughly 110 feet high, providing a picture frame effect for both the Lincoln Memorial across the Potomac River and Arlington National Cemetery.
The arch’s location would be roughly equidistant from both landmarks, sitting at the roundabout between Memorial Bridge and Memorial Avenue near the Arlington Cemetery Metro Stop.
The scale would be unlike any monument in Washington, D.C., with the arch theoretically dwarfing nearby memorials and towering above the roadway.

Friday’s released designs revealed a golden, winged Lady Liberty-style figure atop the arch flanked by two bald eagles crowning the monument and adding even more height to the structure. This is in contrast to previous possible designs Trump posted to social media in January, which had no ornamentation atop the arch.
The most iconic detail released in Friday’s design, emblazoned across the top of the large central archway, are golden letters that say «ONE NATION UNDER GOD» centered on its white stone facade.
Harrison Design confirmed to Fox News Digital that the principal architect behind the arch is Nicolas Charbonneau, the award-winning director of Harrison Design’s Sacred Architecture Studio. He is known primarily for his work on churches.
«The world is ordered so that there’s a harmony to everything,» Charbonneau told The Arlington Catholic Herald. «And we’ve been designed to know that there should be an ordering to what we do. A lot of modern architecture flies in the face of that.»

According to the mock-ups reviewed by Fox News Digital, there appear to be internal staircases within the arch’s pedestals leading to what is implied to be a viewing deck for visitors to the monument. Four golden lions sit at each corner of the monument, renderings show.
The White House reiterated its goals for the monument in a statement it had previously shared with Fox News Digital earlier this year when asked for comment.
«The Triumphal Arch in Memorial Circle is going to be one of the most iconic landmarks not only in Washington, D.C., but throughout the world,» White House spokesperson Davis Ingle reiterated in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The Commission of Fine Arts, founded in 1910, consists of members who are personally selected by the sitting president and describes itself as «an independent federal agency charged with giving expert advice to the President, the Congress and the federal and District of Columbia governments on matters of design and aesthetics.»
