Top Trump ally warns super PAC bankrolled by Dem billionaire is meddling in his GOP primary

A clean energy super PAC bankrolled by a left-wing billionaire is pouring millions into an effort to unseat Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., as he wages a bid for re-election in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition super PAC had spent roughly $1.3 million on opposing Ogles and supporting his Republican challenger, Charlie Hatcher, Tennessee’s former commissioner of agriculture, and recently bought another $700,000 worth of ads.
The group has raised $6.7 million this year, making Ogles a sizable portion of their spending this cycle. A Fox News Digital review of FEC filings discovered that the super PAC is bankrolled by Chris Larsen, the California-based billionaire chairman of Ripple, which is described on its website as the «leading financial technology company that offers crypto solutions for businesses.»
Larsen has donated $6 million to the super PAC since Feb. 2026. His latest $5 million donation to Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC is his second-largest single donation after donating $5,444,975 to Future Forward PAC in 2024 to support Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign.

Larsen has also donated over $1 million to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, over $1 million between the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and over $300,000 supporting Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., among other six-figure donations to top Democratic campaigns and PACs.
The way that Ogles sees it, it’s an attempt to show Republicans what happens when lawmakers attempt to scale back government investments in renewable energy sources.
«When you have a group spending roughly $2 million in a Republican primary, that tells you how much money they’re making off of government subsidies, and they’re upset that the government welfare has been taken away from them,» Ogles told Fox News Digital in an interview.
Larsen, who is an angel investor and climate philanthropist, is making «climate change his top priority,» according to an online bio.
«He founded the Larsen Lam Climate Change Foundation (since renamed as the Clean Break Fund) in 2021 to guide his climate philanthropy, and is an active early investor in numerous climate tech companies, as well as several prominent climate funds,» the bio continues. «His philanthropic priorities include the climate-driven home insurance crisis, making climate change a bipartisan issue once again, and carbon dioxide removal, among many other projects.»
Ogles, a member of the fiscally minded House Freedom Caucus, has been one of the most outspoken Republicans calling for a reversal of energy initiatives passed under President Joe Biden. Among them, Ogles has argued against clean energy subsidies in Biden’s Infrastructure and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
But more than that, Ogles thinks it’s his proximity to Trump that has made him a target.
«It’s because I’m close to the president. It is because I am outspoken. And quite frankly, it is because I speak plainly on these issues,» Ogles said.
Trump, who has endorsed Ogles, reaffirmed his support for the conservative firebrand ahead of the primary.
«Andy will be really enshrined as one of the best congressmen that you’ll ever see. He’s just fantastic,» Trump said. «Andy has always been there when we needed him and when I needed him. He’s been a great help. He’s been a source of inspiration to a lot of people in Congress.»
Figures who have donated to Invest in Tomorrow framed energy policy as an issue with electoral consequences, hinting that Ogles is on the wrong side of the issue.

«Our campaign is here to show that politicians who oppose clean energy do so at their own political peril. Andy Ogles is next,» Tom Matzzie, the PAC’s executive chairman, said in a statement to Axios.
Matzzie is also CEO of a solar energy company, CleanChoice Energy.
When asked about the comment, Ogles said he doesn’t think his views are at odds with the way voters see energy and has characterized the opposition spending as an attempt to buy a seat energy groups can control.
«If trying to build an energy sector that is self-reliant, because it’s a national security issue, makes me an extremist, then so be it.»
Ogles said he stands by his all-of-the-above energy stance. In his view, it’s not the government’s job to pick winners and losers in the energy market — especially in light of the country’s overspending challenges.
«I’m not against solar. We have a farm. I’ve got a big shop. You know, I’ve contemplated putting solar on my shop to help to run my farm. But I don’t want a government subsidy to make it work. I don’t need a government subsidy to pay for it,» Ogles said.

«Look, at the end of the day, you know, I voted for conservative policies and that’s what America wants right now. We’re barreling towards $40 trillion in debt,» he added.
The Tennessee primary will take place on Thursday, Aug. 6.

An elected Democratic official in Michigan is rallying her community against U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and claims those within the socialist rise of her party take Black voters for granted.
«It doesn’t change, it’s just different slave owners,» Democratic Michigan state Rep. Karen Whitsett told Fox News Digital in reference to Democratic Party leaders who believe Black voters are a monolith who should only support left-wing candidates.
She claimed that El-Sayed is not working in the best interest of Black Michiganders and that the far-left wing of her party is «more racist than the KKK.»

Whitsett called out prominent Black voices known for rallying the community’s vote for Democrats — specifically naming Al Sharpton and controversial Detroit pastor Horace Sheffield III, an El-Sayed campaign surrogate. She accused the pair of working to «keep the knee on [Black voters’] neck.»
Whitsett said Black voters are «waking up» and are «realizing the power of our vote.»
«You can see the serious divide of the crazy socialist far-left and especially the White women,» Whitsett said. «They are the worst and the most racist that there possibly ever could be. They’re, I think, they’re more racist than the KKK.»
«Are you trying to help the Black community or are you trying to kill it?» she rhetorically asked. «Are you trying to keep people stupid and ill-informed or what? Because right now I can’t tell, right? Is this voter education or are you just trying to make sure you count your slaves on the plantation.»

El-Sayed’s values aren’t aligned with hers, Whitsett said, adding that she doesn’t think he has the best interest of Black voters at heart, either.
«I’m going to stand on Bible first, and I’m going to stand on community first,» she said. I don’t care about moving up within the Democratic Party. I don’t care about making sure my pockets are better.»
El-Sayed’s campaign did not return Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Whitsett’s criticism of the candidate and the Democratic Party’s leftward shift.
Whitsett is not running for re-election and will retire when her term expires at the end of the year.

«I always try to be a voice of reason, and I’m not a go along, get along. So, my whole thing is it has to make sense, and I am definitely family over party. God over party is of the utmost importance,» she said.
«So for me, when you point that out to people, it’s just common sense that to people, that’s just common sense that El-Sayed is not the candidate,» she continued. «There’s just no way. It doesn’t line up. It doesn’t line up Biblically, and it doesn’t line up with common sense.»
Noting that she does believe everyone should have medical insurance, Whitsett harped on El-Sayed’s campaign promise of Medicare for All. She said the progressive candidate hasn’t adequately explained how that system will be implemented, and what it means for Americans when they visit the doctor.

El-Sayed already finds himself in hot water for palling around on the campaign trail with socialist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who said in 2019 that «America deserved 9/11.» He has also praised Mao Zedong and Communist China, said capitalists should be murdered in the streets and is known for making antisemitic comments.
El-Sayed has refused to condemn Piker, instead painting him as a «streamer from California» who has no bearing on the race in Michigan, despite inviting Piker to Michigan to campaign for him.
Many Jewish Democrats in Michigan have vowed not to support the far-left candidate, saying in an open letter they feel «threatened and alienated by the politics and allies embraced by Abdul El-Sayed, which has included demonization of Jews, equivocation on terrorism, exclusion of Jewish Americans from public life, and expression of implacable hatred of the world’s only Jewish nation.»

U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced on Tuesday that the U.S. sank another vessel characterized as a «floating refueling station» linked to drug trafficking efforts.
«On September 8, under the direction of #SOUTHCOM, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere (JTF-WHEM) forces successfully interdicted a floating refueling station supporting illicit at-sea drug trafficking operations in the Eastern Pacific,» SOUTHCOM noted in a post on X.
«Intelligence confirmed the vessel’s involvement with the Los Choneros violent narco-terrorist organization. Individuals removed from the vessel have been transferred to Ecuadorian authorities. After clearing the vessel and disembarking the crew, U.S. forces sank it,» the post continued.

The post was the latest in a string of similar announcements about the U.S. sinking vessels serving as refueling stations linked with the Los Choneros, a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Más de 5100 personas siguen desaparecidas en Nepal dos semanas después de la riada: las devastadoras imágenes de la tragedia
A dos semanas de la riada que arrasó el norte y centro de Nepal, las autoridades informaron que 5133 personas siguen desaparecidas, entre ellas 587 turistas extranjeros. El desastre dejó un saldo devastador y mantiene en vilo a las familias que buscan a sus seres queridos.
La Autoridad Nacional para la Reducción y Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (NDRRMA) actualizó el número de víctimas fatales: 1367 cuerpos y restos humanos fueron recuperados en los 15 municipios declarados zonas de desastre prioritario. Sin embargo, solo 102 víctimas pudieron ser identificadas y entregadas a sus familias, mientras el resto permanece en proceso de reconocimiento.
El desafío de identificar a las víctimas y la ayuda internacional
El operativo de identificación se lleva adelante en condiciones extremas, tanto en instalaciones improvisadas en zonas montañosas como en hospitales y morgues de las principales ciudades. Especialistas de China, India y Corea del Sur colaboran en el terreno para acelerar el proceso.
Hasta el momento, la Policía de Nepal recolectó 2698 muestras de ADN: 1286 corresponden a restos hallados y 1412 a familiares, incluidas muestras tomadas en el extranjero para identificar a los turistas desaparecidos.
Muchos cuerpos fueron enterrados de forma temporal en lugares como Gokarna o Pokhara tras la toma de muestras genéticas.
Miles de desplazados y comunidades aisladas
La catástrofe dejó a más de 3600 personas desplazadas, que permanecen en 37 centros de acogida temporal en Nuwakot, Rasuwa y Dhading. El hacinamiento y la contaminación del agua aumentaron el riesgo de enfermedades como el cólera.
La destrucción de puentes y rutas complicó el acceso a decenas de comunidades, donde algunos comercios agotaron sus mercaderías y la ayuda humanitaria quedó bloqueada en nodos logísticos como Bidur y Dhunche.
Más de 21.000 efectivos siguen trabajando en la búsqueda de desaparecidos, incluso en las galerías de centrales hidroeléctricas como Upper Trishuli-1, donde se teme que cientos de trabajadores hayan quedado atrapados.
Las tareas de rescate continúan “con el mismo impulso que teníamos el primer día”, afirmó Raja Ram Basnet, portavoz del ejército de Nepal.
“Nuestro foco está en la búsqueda y rescate en tres niveles, en el suelo, por aire y en los túneles. Nos estamos asegurando de que nadie quede atrás”, sostuvo.

En medio de la tragedia, Nepal comenzó a reabrir escuelas en las zonas afectadas. En Bidur, distrito de Nuwakot, las clases se retomaron este miércoles tras permanecer cerradas desde el 26 de agosto, cuando la riada provocada por la ruptira de un glaciar arrasó la región.
Aproximadamente 600 menores siguen desaparecidos y más de 7000 alumnos asisten a centros educativos dañados por el desastre.

“Un gran trozo de glaciar se desprendió desde unos 5.200 metros (…) y cayó en un valle”, explicó Simon Cox, científico principal del instituto neozelandés GNS Science.
“Se transformó en una masa arrolladora de detritos (…) que arrastró rocas, sedimentos, árboles y todo lo que se interponía en su camino, y lo lanzó a toda velocidad por el cañón”, explicó.
El alud impactó primero un puesto fronterizo con Tibet, tal como documentan unas imágenes escalofriantes de una cámara de seguridad que muestran una masa de lodo enterrando la zona mientras la gente huye ante su avance. Luego siguió su curso río abajo hacia Nepal
