Una empresaria confesó en un audio haber torturado a una empleada doméstica embarazada: “No debería estar viva”
Una joven empleada doméstica embarazada denunció haber sido brutalmente agredida por su empleadora en la ciudad de São Luís, en Brasil, y se viralizaron audios en los que la mujer detalló cómo la golpeó y torturó durante casi una hora tras acusarla de haberle robado un anillo.
Las grabaciones, que la propia agresora, la empresaria Carolina Sthela Ferreira dos Anjos, envió a un grupo de mensajes, fueron difundidas por el canal TV Mirante y ya forman parte de la investigación policial.
En los audios, la empleadora no solo describió con crudeza las agresiones, sino que llegó a afirmar: “No debería haber salido con vida”.
La víctima, identificada como Samara, contó que aceptó el trabajo como empleada doméstica para poder comprar el ajuar de su bebé, bajo un contrato de apenas un mes.
El relato de la violencia: golpes, amenazas y humillaciones
Según los mensajes de voz, Ferreira llamó a un hombre armado para intimidar a la joven tras no encontrar un anillo. El 17 de abril, este hombre llegó a la casa “con una pistola enorme, que prácticamente brillaba” y, junto a la empleadora, sometieron a Samara a golpes, amenazas y humillaciones.
En su relato, la sospechosa describió el momento en que llamó a la empleada doméstica para hablar con ella después de que llegara el hombre. “Entonces le dije: ‘Samara, por favor, vení. Ayer desapareció mi anillo, ¿sabes? No entró nadie más a casa, solo nosotras; la única extraña sos vos. Y mi anillo no tiene piernas ni alas para volar. Así que quiero que vayas a buscarlo a donde lo pusiste para que no tengamos problemas’“, relató la mujer.
Y luego descrbibió las agresiones. “Durante casi una hora castigamos a esa chica: cachetadas, piñas, le pisábamos los dedos. Todo lo que se imaginen de locura, era yo y él haciéndolo”, confesó Carolina en uno de los audios. Samara denunció haber sido agredida por la empresaria Carolina Sthela Ferreira dos Anjos. La agresora contó que, mientras la joven buscaba el anillo por la casa, la obligaron a arrodillarse, la tiraron del pelo y hasta le metieron el arma en la boca.
Incluso después de encontrar la joya en un canasto de ropa sucia, las agresiones continuaron.
“Le di tantas cachetadas que mi mano quedó hinchada. Hasta hoy mi dedo está morado”, afirmó sin remordimiento.
Al día siguiente, la víctima realizó la denuncia y se sometió a un examen médico legal, que confirmó las lesiones. Las fotos muestran hematomas en todo el cuerpo y una herida en la frente, producto de un golpe con la culata del arma.
Sospechas de encubrimiento y antecedentes de violencia
Tras la denuncia, la policía acudió al domicilio de la sospechosa. Según Carolina, el agente que atendió el caso era amigo suyo y no la llevó detenida, a pesar de las evidencias.
“Paró una patrulla en la calle, vinieron a la mañana. Pero vino un policía que me conocía. Suerte la mía, ¿no? Y suerte la de ella también. Le expliqué lo que pasó y me dijo: ‘Carol, si no fuera yo, tendría que llevarte a la comisaría porque está llena de hematomas’. Y yo le dije: ‘era para que tuviera más, no debería estar viva’”, se escucha en otro de los audios.
La versión que Carolina dio en la comisaría fue distinta: allí aseguró que encontró las joyas en la bolsa de la empleada y que la joven huyó del lugar antes de que llegara la policía.
El caso está siendo investigado por la 21ª Delegación de Policía Civil de Araçagy. Hasta el momento, Carolina Sthela no fue detenida ni imputada formalmente.
La empleada doméstica afirmó que intentó proteger a su bebé durante los ataques
Embarazada de cinco meses, la joven afirmó que, durante los ataques, intentó proteger su vientre. “Empezó con tirones de pelo. Me tiraron al suelo y pasé allí gran parte del tiempo. Hubo bofetadas, puñetazos y golpes… fue sin parar. No les importó”, declaró la joven a medios locales.
“Gracias a Dios, no me dieron ninguna patada porque estuve protegiendo mi estómago todo el tiempo, pero el resto de mi cuerpo quedó lleno de moretones”, relató.
Un historial de denuncias y condenas previas
La policía confirmó que Carolina Sthela Ferreira dos Anjos tiene más de diez procesos judiciales en su contra. En 2024, fue condenada por calumniar a una exniñera, a quien acusó falsamente de robar una pulsera de oro. La sentencia, dictada en el Juzgado Civil y Criminal de Santa Inês, le impuso seis meses de prisión en régimen abierto, reemplazados por trabajo comunitario, y el pago de 4 mil reales por daños morales.
Sandila Souza, la exniñera, contó que comenzó a trabajar en la casa de Carolina a los 17 años y que el pago siempre se realizaba a través de terceros. Aseguró que no le pagó la indemnización por daños morales.
La defensa de la acusada
Consultada por la prensa, Carolina Sthela negó los hechos y calificó las acusaciones como “una distorsión de lo que realmente ocurrió”. Aseguró que ya tomó todas las medidas legales para aclarar la situación.
El marido de la acusada también negó la existencia de los audios y sostuvo que las grabaciones son “mentiras”.

A bird-watching tour in a region that had never recorded a hantavirus case is now at the center of an urgent investigation, as Argentine officials examine whether a Dutch couple unknowingly brought the deadly virus aboard a cruise ship after a stop at a landfill.
Argentina’s leading hypothesis is that a Dutch couple may have been exposed to rodents while visiting the landfill during the tour in the city of Ushuaia, contracting the virus before boarding the cruise ship, two Argentine officials investigating the origins of the outbreak told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Hantavirus usually spreads by inhaling contaminated rodent droppings. The World Health Organization (WHO) said human-to-human transfer is uncommon, but possible.
Authorities previously said Ushuaia and surrounding Tierra del Fuego province had never recorded a hantavirus case.

The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius ship is at the center of an outbreak that has already killed three passengers and sickened several others. Contact tracing is underway across Europe and Africa to track possible spread among passengers who have since disembarked.
Testing in Switzerland, South Africa and Senegal has confirmed that this is the Andes strain, according to authorities. The WHO says the variant is found primarily in Argentina and Chile that can spread through close contact, though rare.

Swiss officials said a man who returned from the cruise sought treatment after developing symptoms and was immediately isolated. They said he tested positive for the Andes strain.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Wednesday that three suspected cases were evacuated from the vessel and are being transported to the Netherlands for treatment.

There is no clearer example of what happens when billionaire Ken Griffin turns on a city than in Chicago — a blueprint that he’s now following in New York.
The Citadel founder is clashing with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani over taxes targeting the ultra-wealthy and intensifying crime, reviving the same tensions that drove him to pull his business and billions out of Chicago.
Griffin, worth about $50 billion according to Forbes, moved the firm’s global headquarters from Chicago to Miami in 2022, a departure that showed how quickly jobs, investment and influence can follow when a major financial player leaves.
The move marked Griffin’s break from Chicago, where he built one of the world’s most powerful hedge fund and market-making operations, which helped cement the city’s status as a global financial hub.

The Windy City, which served as Citadel’s home for more than 30 years, has seen much of the firm’s workforce shift south, with the office go from roughly 1,300 employees to a few hundred and still shrinking.
«Asking people to leave Chicago for New York or Miami has not been hard,» Griffin said at a conference in New York on Oct. 6.
«Chicago, over the past six or seven years, has been engulfed in a series of problems,» he said, pointing to crime as one of the city’s most pressing challenges, along with broader economic and policy concerns weighing on employees’ willingness to stay.

«I think the sad part of the story is how many people who had built lives in Chicago were willing to walk away from that and move to Miami or New York, just given the challenges that Illinois has faced,» he added.
For Chicago, the result has been a steady erosion of one of its most prominent corporate anchors — shrinking office space, relocating employees and the departure of a billionaire who once poured hundreds of millions into the city’s institutions and politics. It also meant fewer high-paying finance jobs downtown and the disappearance of a major civic and cultural benefactor.
That dynamic is now resurfacing in New York, where Griffin is locked in an escalating fight with Mamdani, echoing the early stages of his break with Chicago when Lori Lightfoot was mayor and JB Pritzker was governor of Illinois.

The dispute was sparked by Mamdani’s viral April 15 video promoting a proposed tax on second homes worth more than $5 million. Filmed outside Griffin’s 24,000-square-foot Central Park South penthouse — purchased for a record $238 million — the video singled out the hedge fund powerhouse by name.
«This is an annual fee on luxury properties worth more than $5 million, whose owners do not live full-time in the city. Like for this penthouse, which hedge fund CEO Ken Griffin bought for $238 million,» Mamdani said in the clip.
Griffin has since criticized the video as «creepy and weird» during a discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference on April 6. He said he watched it three times.
Asked about Citadel’s plans for a $6 billion office tower at 350 Park Avenue, he said the firm is reassessing the project while doubling down on its expansion in Miami, which he called «unquestionably» the right choice.
