Iran’s regime spins nuclear and Strait of Hormuz deal with Trump as victory over US, Israel

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s state-controlled media is promoting the memorandum of understanding with the U.S. to re-open the Strait of Hormuz and address Tehran’s illicit nuclear weapons program as its triumph over the U.S. and Israel.
The major diplomatic breakthrough, known as by its initials MOU, is slated to be sealed at a signing ceremony on June 19 in Switzerland. Iranian state-controlled TV boasted that the «U.S. is forced to sign agreement to end the war.»
The State Department has classified Iran as the world’s worst state-sponsor of terrorism and its state-controlled media apparatus is notorious, according to Iran experts, for spreading anti-U.S. propoganda.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said, according to the country’s Tasnim News Agency, «This memorandum does not mean trusting the enemy; it has been written with active distrust. We will monitor the implementation of U.S. commitments.»
Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the nation’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, «emphasized that national cohesion and the active presence of the people serve as important capital and a primary pillar of Iran’s diplomatic authority.»
Araghchi said, according to IRNA,» that the true image of Iran’s power on the global stage stems not only from its military capabilities but also from national cohesion, resilience, and the active involvement of its people.»

Tehran’s top diplomat stated that the,»Iranian nation achieved not only tactical victories during the 12-day imposed war in June last year and the recent war, but also important strategic accomplishments whose impact can be observed in both regional and global equations.»
President Trump announced some of the elements of the MOU on Sunday. He wrote on social media. «The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.» He noted that «I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!»

There are additional components of the MOU that have not been confirmed, including the timetable for sanctions relief and the end of Iran’s enrichment of uranium for the construction of nuclear weapons.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said in a Sunday statement that all military operations across multiple fronts, including those in Lebanon, will cease «immediately and permanently» starting Sunday night.

Lisa Daftari, the founder and editor-in-chief of The Foreign Desk told Fox News Digital that, «Inside Iran, state media is selling this as a victory, not a compromise. The message on Iranian television is that a ‘strong and proud’ Islamic Republic has forced Washington to recognize its control over the Strait of Hormuz and to ease military pressure, while Tehran supposedly gives up very little in return.»
Daftari, a leading expert on the Islamic Republic, added «The Islamic Republic’s very DNA is built on delay, deceit and deniability. Every agreement it has signed has been treated as a tactical pause on the way to more missiles, more proxies and more leverage, not a real change in behavior. So while it’s important to read the fine print of this new deal, it’s even more important to remember who is signing it. A system that survives by holding deadly weapons over its neighbors and by lying to its own people is not suddenly going to become a trustworthy partner.»
She concluded, «The Trump administration should assume from day one that Tehran will test every loophole, hide every capability it can, and resume its nuclear program, amass its drones and missiles, fund its deadly proxies while continuing to torture the Iranian people at home.»

Cameron Khansarinia, the chief of staff for Reza Pahlavi, the leader of the Iranian democratic opposition and exiled former crown prince of Iran, wrote on x: «Deal or no deal, the people of Iran will not stop the fight for freedom. Iran’s future has always been for Iranians for determine. And they will. With or without help, Iranians will topple the Islamic Republic. The fight continues. Prince Reza Pahlavi will lead Iran to freedom.»

Another leading Iranian opposition group’s leader, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said in a statement that, «The Iranian Resistance, which for nearly five decades has sought freedom and peace, welcomes any understanding to end the war and the suffering of the Iranian people. In Iran, no one except the remnants of the mullahs and the Shah has wanted or wants war.»

She added that «The effort to produce nuclear weapons, warmongering, and meddling in the countries of the region are part of the survival strategy of the religious fascism ruling Iran, and it will not abandon them as long as it can. War is this regime’s shield against popular uprisings, while peace and a ceasefire are, as Khomeini put it, like «poison» for it. The overthrow of the regime is the responsibility of the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. I reiterate once again that any international agreement to end the war must include an end to the execution of political prisoners and the killing of protesters.»

ATLANTA, GA. – He wasn’t on the ballot, but President Donald Trump‘s immense clout over the GOP faced more key tests in high-stakes Republican runoffs in Georgia and in neighboring Alabama Tuesday.
While the power of a Trump endorsement in Republican primaries didn’t escape unscathed, Trump-backed candidates won two of the three top races, with the one setback coming against a billionaire businessman who shelled out over $100 million of his own money to boost his campaign.
Rep. Barry Moore, a House Freedom Caucus member and longtime Trump supporter who was endorsed by the president, comfortably defeated rival Jared Hudson, a former Navy SEAL sniper who was supported by some top names on the right, in solidly red Alabama’s GOP Senate runoff.
TRUMP NOTCHES ANOTHER ENDORSEMENT WIN
In battleground Georgia’s Republican Senate runoff, an 11th hour endorsement by Trump this past weekend helped boost Rep. Mike Collins, a MAGA champion, to victory over former college football coach Derek Dooley, who was backed by popular conservative Gov. Brian Kemp.
Collins will face Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in the general election in a race that’s among a handful that will likely decide if the GOP holds its slim majority in the chamber in the midterms.

But in Georgia’s GOP gubernatorial runoff, the candidate Trump backed, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who was also endorsed by Kemp this past weekend, was defeated by Rick Jackson, who ran as an outsider.
Jones regularly showcased his Trump endorsement, but Jackson, who launched his bid in February long after the president had endorsed Jones, repeatedly said that Trump had inspired him to run.
«I just thought, you know, if you had somebody doing business solutions for the state of Georgia, just like Trump is for the United States, I just felt like I would have a major impact on the state of Georgia, and so that was one of the reasons I wanted to get in. I was inspired by President Trump,» Jackson told Fox News Digital recently.
And he continuously highlighted that, like Trump, he’s an outsider and businessman. «I’m going to be Trump’s favorite governor because we’re just alike on the way that we handle business and handle problems, and I want to do exactly in Georgia what he’s doing at the federal government,» he reiterated in a Fox News Digital interview Sunday.
TRUMP ENDORSEMENT FAILS TO SAVE MAGA CANDIDATE
The brute force of the president’s endorsement power has been on display in GOP primaries over the past six weeks, with his candidates ousting incumbents he targeted in showdowns in Indiana, Louisiana, Kentucky and Texas that grabbed plenty of national attention.
But Trump’s endorsement streak in statewide and congressional Republican primaries was snapped two weeks ago when his 11th-hour endorsement of Republican Rep. Randy Feenstra of Iowa in the race to succeed retiring GOP Gov. Kim Reynolds wasn’t enough to propel the three-term congressman to victory.
Feenstra was narrowly edged by Zach Lahn, a businessman, farmer and former political strategist who was backed by the political wings of MAHA — the acronym for the Make America Healthy Again movement aligned with Trump Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — and Turning Point USA, the powerful conservative organization co-founded by the late Charlie Kirk.

Trump rebounded last week, as the candidate he endorsed in the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial primary, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, finished first in a crowded field and clinched one of the two tickets in the race for the nomination.
Meanwhile, longtime Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham did win a majority of the vote in the Republican Senate primary, and avoided a runoff.
Graham, who was endorsed by Trump, was facing primary challenges from five candidates, including conservative businessman Mark Lynch, who took aim at the senator over his support for the war in Iran. Lynch was backed by some MAGA leaders who have been critical of the president.

A Trump political operative, pointing to Tuesday loss by Trump-backed Jones, noted that «Rick Jackson set a record for spending in a statewide Republican primary. He spent Tom Steyer level money in a state a fraction of the size of California. That’s going to have an impact.»
And the operative, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, also emphasized that «Rick bearhugged Trump. All of his ads and material was about how he’s going to be Trump’s favorite governor. So the race was not really a referendum on Trump.»
Veteran Republican strategist Matt Gorman told Fox News Digital that «Rick was a great candidate. Trump’s endorsement can’t do all the work. It’s a massive value add but it’s not a panacea. Now the focus is on coming together for the fall.»
Jackson was endorsed at the last minute by Sen. Ted Cruz, and the conservative firebrand from Texas joined Jackson on the campaign trail for a runoff eve rally.

When Cruz endorsed Jackson on Friday, he also supported South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is facing off in a week against Trump-backed Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette.
Asked if he’s trying to put some daylight between himself and the president on the campaign trail, Cruz quickly responded, «No. Not remotely….The president and I agree on the vast majority of races. What I try to do in every race is endorse the strongest conservative who can win. And typically I get in races late in the race at a time where my support might be able to make a difference and be helpful.»

El presidente surcoreano le pidió ayuda a Donald Trump para lograr la paz con Corea del Norte, como lo hizo “en Medio Oriente”
El presidente de Corea del Sur, Lee Jae-myung, solicitó a su homólogo estadounidense, Donald Trump, que lo ayude a alcanzar la paz con Corea del Norte, “tal como resolvió el conflicto en Medio Oriente”. Según un comunicado de la oficina presidencial surcoreana, durante una conversación mantenida en la cumbre del G7 en Francia, Trump consultó a Lee sobre los avances en las relaciones intercoreanas.
La petición se produjo en el contexto de la inminente firma de un memorando de entendimiento entre Washington e Irán para poner fin a su guerra, un hecho que ha alimentado la expectativa de que la administración de Trump podría concentrarse a continuación en la península coreana. En esa línea, el Ministerio de Defensa de Seúl anunció nuevas normas que amplían el acceso público a la zona fronteriza altamente militarizada, permitiendo a los civiles acercarse varios kilómetros más al límite con Corea del Norte.
Las dos Coreas continúan técnicamente en guerra desde 1953, cuando el conflicto finalizó con un armisticio y no con un tratado de paz, y se hallan separadas por una zona desmilitarizada. Por años, la Línea de Control Civil (CCL) restringió el paso de surcoreanos a menos de 10 kilómetros al sur de la frontera fortificada. El ministro de Defensa, Ahn Gyu-back, informó que la CCL se reducirá a un promedio de 6 kilómetros, lo que incrementará el acceso para residentes, agricultores y visitantes.
Pyongyang rechazó en reiteradas ocasiones los intentos de acercamiento de Lee, calificando oficialmente a Seúl como su enemigo “más hostil” y reafirmando su condición de estado nuclear “irreversible”. Analistas especializados en la península coreana consideran que las probabilidades de un nuevo encuentro entre Kim Jong-un y Trump son bajas.
Cabe recordar que Corea del Sur y Estados Unidos restablecieron la referencia a la desnuclearización de Corea del Norte en la declaración conjunta emitida tras una reunión clave sobre asuntos nucleares en Seúl la semana pasada. El texto, correspondiente a la sexta sesión del Grupo Consultivo Nuclear (NCG) y difundido la noche del jueves, señala que ambos países “reafirmaron su objetivo común de lograr la desnuclearización de Corea del Norte”.
En la anterior sesión del NCG, celebrada en diciembre en Washington, se había omitido toda mención directa al régimen norcoreano y a la desnuclearización de la península, hecho que alimentó especulaciones acerca de un posible intento de facilitar un acercamiento entre el presidente estadounidense, Donald Trump, y el dictador norcoreano, Kim Jong-un.
El retorno del compromiso bilateral ocurre después de la reciente cumbre en Pyongyang entre Kim y el líder chino, Xi Jinping, en la que no se abordó públicamente el tema. La Casa Blanca sostuvo que, tras la reunión del mes pasado entre Trump y Xi en Beijing, ambos mandatarios ratificaron el objetivo compartido de desnuclearizar el territorio norcoreano.
