Trump blasts Spain migrant surge as ‘catastrophe,’ warns US could face worse if Democrats regain power

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
President Donald Trump said Friday during a Cabinet meeting that scenes of migrants flooding into Spain’s enclave of Ceuta from Morocco looked like a «catastrophe,» but that the U.S. could see worse in the future if Democrats regain power.
«You know, I saw Spain yesterday, and I watched the catastrophe that took place. It looks like an invasion of a country by hundreds of thousands of people. And that same thing is going to happen to us if the Republicans don’t get elected,» Trump said Friday at Camp David. «Except worse, much bigger, much easier to get into. Despite the fact that we have built thousands of miles of wall, which I said we were going to do. But if we didn’t have that, forget it. But we have the safest border in the world. If we’re not in office, our country will be invaded at levels that made Spain look small time.»
«And when I watched it, I said, boy, I said, ‘I’m going to say it because I knew you were going to be at Camp David.’ And I say, ‘That’s going to be a talking point for the midterms, because when you look at what happened to Spain, they don’t know what to do.’ And it’s happening again today,» the president continued. «They’re coming in by the tens of thousands. It’s just invading the country. And what that is weak law, bad management, but very liberal law. They passed a couple of laws and people read, you know, people are smart. They read from other countries, and they swam that 3-mile swim or however they got in.»
«But nobody’s seen anything like it. That will look good compared to what’s going to happen to the United States,» Trump also said. «The biggest thing, the worst thing that Biden did is allowing 25 million people into our country, because many of those people are criminals. They’re murderers,» Trump also said. «A lot of them are gone now. We got them out. But they allowed people to come into this country that you can’t allow to come into a country.»

Trump made similar comments to Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich earlier Friday morning.
«It’s terrible. Remember that picture. That’s going to be us in three years if the wrong side gets in,» Trump said.
«If the Democrats get in, you will not live a very good life,» he warned.
U.S. border security has remained a key plank of the president’s campaign and policy focus throughout his political career.
An English translation of a Friday Spanish-language post on X from Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said, «The Government will guarantee the safety of the residents of Ceuta, intensifying the presence of the Security Forces and Corps on the city’s streets.» The post also included a video of him delivering remarks in Spanish.

Ceuta, which is located along the northwestern African coast and borders Morocco, is not attached to mainland Spain.
«Additionally, we will deploy a physical containment barrier in the sea to facilitate repatriation at the border, in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling. We will expedite the repatriation files of the migrants who arrived irregularly. And we will maintain cooperation with the Moroccan authorities to continue fighting against the mafias that traffic in human beings,» the prime minister’s post added.
Around 60,000 migrants had ventured from Morocco to Ceuta over the past 24 hours, Cueta President Juan Jesús Vivas said on Friday.
At least 41 migrants lost their lives.

Spain’s interior ministry issued its own figures not long after Vivas spoke, estimating that some 50,000 individuals came from Morocco since Thursday, adding that half had already gone back to Morocco.

Ex-‘Squad’ member fights for comeback as socialist wing ramps up war on Dem establishment

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
One of the most outspoken members of the «Squad» is plotting her return to Congress as a wave of socialist insurgency continues to batter establishment Democrats across the country.
Former Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., is running to get her old seat back representing Missouri’s 1st Congressional District after losing to incumbent Rep. Wesley Bell, D-Mo., in November 2024. It’s another battle in the wider civil war that’s taking place within the Democratic Party.
Missouri’s primary elections are this Tuesday, and Bush has spent weeks blasting Bell for his pro-Israel stance and accusing him of being tied too closely to Republicans.
In her latest ad released on Thursday, Bush accused Bell of not doing enough to help St. Louis recover from a May 2025 tornado and instead «jetting off to Israel with AIPAC.»

She posted on X alongside the ad, «When the disaster caused $1.6 billion in damages and took several lives, Wesley responded by hopping on a flight to Israel funded by Trump’s donors less than 90 days later.»
Earlier this month, she posted, «Wesley Bell is a former Republican campaign manager who is bought and paid for by AIPAC. On August 4th, we’re going back to DC, and we’ll do it with no corporate cash or AIPAC-funded trips.»

When reached for comment on Bush’s criticism, Bell’s campaign pointed Fox News Digital to a recent debate between the two on St. Louis Public Radio, specifically Bell’s response to a question on the tornado.
«Once the tornado hit here, I got right to work. I was on the ground immediately, but also working with our delegation, which, you all know, is six Republicans and only myself and [Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo.],» Bell said. «And so I got on the phone with each one of them. Sometimes that meant sitting in their offices as well, to explain to them how important it was for them to join me in making certain that St. Louis got the resources that folks here needed. So I’m proud of the fact that we were able to get over $200 million and counting in FEMA disaster relief, but we still got more to do.»

Bell’s campaign also shared an ad with Fox News Digital in which a constituent called Bush’s attacks on Bell «just politics» while defending his response to the tornado.
«Wesley Bell’s taken on Trump. He’s fighting for me and my neighbors,» the constituent said.
The issue of U.S.-Israel relations has been fueling an ever-growing fracture within the Democratic Party since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Jewish nation-state.
The two-term progressive firebrand was one of Congress’ harshest critics of Israel and its operation in Gaza, well before it became a more mainstream position in the party. She had accused Israel’s government of waging a genocide on Palestinians and consistently voted against emergency funding for the Middle Eastern ally.

Bell is a more pragmatic Democrat who previously served as a county prosecutor.

Bush blamed her narrow 2024 loss to Bell on hundreds of thousands of dollars spent by pro-Israel groups, including those affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), from outside the district.
The rematch comes as candidates linked to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) continue to shake up primaries across the country.
DSA candidates are posing a challenge for more establishment Democrats in gubernatorial races like Wisconsin and a Senate race in Michigan, and have even successfully toppled House Democratic incumbents in New York and Colorado.
Bush is also a member of the DSA.
